Adding Additional Provider

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, you can add an additional provider in addition to the rendering and referring providers. The Additional Provider field appears at the charge level on the Charge Posting window only when configured in the Practice Preferences window. This functionality has no impact on claims and can be used for reporting purposes. A practice can add a nurse to charges when the nurse assists the rendering provider with specific procedures. Charge-based reports can then be generated for the nurse. Enable the Additional Provider Field on the Charge Posting Window

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Admin menu, select Preferences, and then Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. In the Preferences List, select Charge Entry and then select the Charges tab. Select the Addtl prov check box. Enter a name for the field to be added to the Charge Posting window. For example, Nurse Select one of the following: If the additional providers are set up in the Providers master file as rendering providers, select Practice renderings. If the additional providers are set up in the Providers master file as non-rendering providers, select All providers. Select OK. The Additional Provider field appears on the Charge Posting window. Charge Entry Options

The following table describes the options available on the Charges tab of the Charge Entry Practice Preferences. Field Description Prevent charge rendering physician modifications after practice closing Select this option to prevent users from changing a charge's rendering physician if the charge was created before the closing date. Note that the charge create date does not have to be the encounter date; a charge can be added after practice closing and the rendering does not lock down until the practice closes again. You can still add a rendering physician if no rendering physician has been entered for the charge. Prevent charge referring physician modifications after practice closing Select this check box to prevent users from changing the charge's referring provider on an encounter after practice closing.
