Enable the Additional Provider Field on the Charge Posting Window

Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Admin menu, select Preferences, and then Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. In the Preferences List, select Charge Entry and then select the Charges tab. Select the Addtl prov check box. Enter a name for the field to be added to the Charge Posting window. For example, Nurse Select one of the following: If the additional providers are set up in the Providers master file as rendering providers, select Practice renderings. If the additional providers are set up in the Providers master file as non-rendering providers, select All providers. Select OK. The Additional Provider field appears on the Charge Posting window. Add a Charge Note

You can add a note to a charge to provide additional information about the charge. Charge notes are used for internal purposes only and do not appear on claims or statements. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter. In the charge ledger section at the bottom of the window, select the charge to which a note is to be added. Select Open. In the Notes field, enter a free-text note about the charge. For lengthy notes, select Note . The Charge Notes window opens. In the Note Entry field, enter free-text notes for the charge as needed. Select OK. Parent topic: Enter Charges

Providers Notes Tab

Notes can be added for a referring provider. The provider notes are not practice-specific. You can set them to display as an alert throughout the enterprise whenever the provider is used as a referring physician during appointment scheduling in NextGen® Enterprise PM. To add a note for a referring provider: On the Add/Modify Provider Information window, select the Notes tab. In the Provider Notes box, enter the notes. You can enter a maximum of 255 characters. If you want an alert to display this note, select the Show notes as alert when this provider is used as a referral source on appointments check box. The alert displays in NextGen® Enterprise PM when the referring provider is added to an appointment in the Referring Provider field and each time the Edit Appointment window is accessed. Charge Posting Overview

On the Charge Posting window in NextGen® Enterprise PM, you can enter new charges or modify existing charges on patient encounters or company invoices. A charge is any service or procedure that is rendered to a patient by a provider within the practice. All charges include the following fields. Service Date Service Item (SIM) Code CPT4 Code Quantity Unit Price Diagnosis Codes Rendering Provider Place of Service Location Access the Charge Posting Window You can open the Charge Posting window to enter or modify Charges. Charge Posting Toolbar Charge Posting toolbar enables you to access icons to perform different actions, while working with charges. Navigating the Charge Posting Window You can use hot-key commands to navigate the charge posting window. Select a Provider Associated with a Location

If you enable the Use link between Location and Provider Medical Records preference, follow the workflow below to select a provider. Note: You must select a location and provider to use NextGen® Enterprise EHR. When these fields are filled in, you cannot leave them blank. Log on to NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If you have set up Location and Provider preferences, the location and provider appear in the Top toolbar. No action is needed. If you have not set up a location and provider, the Select Location window opens. Select the location. If the selected location has associated providers, the Select Provider (Filtered by Location) window opens, listing only those providers. Select the provider. The selected provider appears in the Provider field on the Top toolbar. All providers associated with the location are available for selection in the Provider field list. Provider Practice Preferences

The Provider Practice Preferences enable you to set up user-defined patient provider fields that define, at the practice level, the different types of providers that a patient has seen or is scheduled to see. It also enables you to track multiple user-defined patient providers at a demographic level.
