Suppress Statements for an Encounter

Suppressing statements at the encounter level will prevent a specific encounter in a specific patient’s chart from being included in a guarantor’s statement. Statements may still include other encounters on the same patient and encounters for other patients that are linked to the guarantor’s account. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Chart. The Patient Lookup window opens. Enter Search Criteria to locate the desired patient. Select Find. All existing persons and patients that match the search criteria display in the Matching Records section of the window. In the Matching Records list, double-click to open the desired patient. The Patient Chart window opens. Select the Encounters tab. From the Encounters list, open the encounter to be suppressed from statements. The Encounter Maintenance window opens. On the General tab, clear the Print Encounter On Statements check box. To save changes and close the window, select OK. Statements are now suppressed for the encounter. Parent topic: Sup

Suppress Statements for an Account

Suppressing statements at the account level will prevent statements from being generated for the guarantor’s entire account. This includes all patients and all encounters that are linked to the guarantor’s account. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Account. The Account Lookup window opens. Enter Search Criteria to locate the desired account. Select Find. All existing accounts that match the search criteria display in the Account List section of the window. In the Account List, double-click to open the account. The Account Profile window opens. Select the Properties tab. In the Statements section, clear the Print Statements check box. Close the Account Profile window. The message appears stating that the general information has changed, do you like to save your changes. To save changes and close the window, select Yes. Suppress Statements for a Payer

Encounters with a specific payer selected as the primary payer can be suppressed from being included on guarantor statements. Encounters with a primary payer and Do not print statements option selected will not be included on statements as long as there is no Pat Amt (patient amount) balance on the encounter. If there is a Pat Amt balance on the encounter, encounters will be included on statements, even if Do not print statements option is selected for the primary payer Note: You can use Do not print statements option for batch statements and not for individual demand statements. Open File Maintenance. Select Master Files > System > Payers. The Payers List window opens. From the list, double-click to open the payer to be suppressed from statements. The Modify Payer Information window opens. Select the Practice tab, and then select the Other sub-tab. Select Do not print statements. Select OK. Statements are now suppressed for the payer. Suppress SIM Descriptions from Statements

Descriptions for all SIM codes can be suppressed from being included on guarantor statements. This option will not suppress the SIM codes from appearing on statements, and it applies to both batch and individual demand statements. This might be used for privacy or sensitivity reasons (for example, HIV testing) or to provide additional space for a brief statement message to print next to each charge on detailed statements. Note: A default setting for this option cannot be made in Practice Preferences > Statements. Therefore, the Suppress SIM Description check box must be selected for each statement run, if applicable. For the Individual Demand Statement, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Account. The Account Lookup window opens. Enter Search Criteria to locate the desired account. Select Find. Suppressing Statements

You can suppress statements from generating for a guarantor at the account, chart, or encounter levels. Reports and work log tasks are available to assist in identifying print statement indicators that have been turned off. In addition, specific payers can be defined to not generate statements, specific SIM codes can be suppressed from statements, and all SIM descriptions can be suppressed from statements. Suppress Statements for an Account You can suppress statements for an account. Suppress Statements for a Chart You can suppress statements at the chart level. Suppress Dunning Messages on Statements

Dunning Messages can be suppressed from printing on statements for an individual guarantor account. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Lookup, and then select Account Profile for the desired guarantor. The Patient Lookup window opens. Select the desired patient, select Find. The Update Patient Information window opens. Select Account. The Account Profile window opens. On the Properties tab, select Suppress Dunning Messages. Close the Account Profile window.
