Stopping a Recall Plan

There are a number of reasons why a patient’s recall should be stopped. For example, when a patient returns to the practice for an appointment that meets their recall plan criteria, the recall is considered successful and should be stopped. Or if a recall plan is entered for a patient in error, it should be stopped. Once a patient’s recall plan is stopped, it can no longer be modified and recall letters will no longer generate for the patient. Stop a Recall Automatically

A patient’s Recall Plan is automatically stopped by the system when all appointment criteria defined on the Recall Plan Maintenance window have been met prior to the patient’s expected return date. In the example below, a patient’s recall for a yearly physical automatically stops when the patient either schedules or keeps an appointment for a Complete Physical Exam (event) with Dr. John Smith (resource) at the Main Office (location) before 07/15/2017 (return date). Whether the recall plan stops when the appointment is scheduled or kept is dependent on the Which appointment status should discontinue participation in this plan? setting in File Maintenance. Kept: The recall plan stops automatically when the appointment is kept. Scheduled: The recall plan stops automatically when the appointment is scheduled. Stop a Recall Manually

Stop a Recall Automatically

Recall Plans

In cases where a patient requires a future follow-up appointment and that appointment cannot be scheduled now, a Recall Plan can be entered for the patient instead. For example, a patient that was seen by a provider today to have a specific test performed may need to return next year to have the test performed again. Recalls are used in NextGen® Enterprise PM as a mechanism of sending one or more letters to the patient reminding them that they are due to return to the practice for a particular type of appointment. Recall Plans are set up in File Maintenance > PM Practice Master Files. The set up for each recall plan defines the number of days within which patients are expected to return. The return event, resource and location can be defined for each recall plan, as well as the number and frequency of reminder letters to be sent to patients. Stop Recall Plans from Reports

Recall Plans for patients can be stopped in batch mode from the Patient Recall Report in NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Reports menu, select General, and then Patient Recall. The NextGen Report Filter window opens. Filter the report to include the desired patient population and then select OK. The Report Preview window opens. On the report toolbar, select the Stop Recall Plan button. The Stop Recall Plans window appears as follows when the Prompt for a reason when a Recall Plan is stopped check box is not enabled in Practice Preferences > Chart. The Stop Recall Plans window appears as follows when the Prompt for a reason when a Recall Plan is stopped check box is enabled in Practice Preferences > Chart: In the Select Plan To Stop field, select one or more recall plans to be stopped. Note: Only those recall plans included on the report are available for selection in this field. In the Select Stop Recall Plan Reason field, select a reason for stopping the recall plan(s).
