Add Demographics to Patient Profiles

You can add demographics such as the patient's general information, address, contact information, and insurance details. You can also specify if a person is a smoker or veteran on the Demographics tab of Add Person Information window. Additionally you can enroll the patient or person in the Enterprise Chart to view encounters from different practices in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Note: The optional and mandatory fields that appear on the Add Person Information window can be configured by your system administrator in Enterprise Preferences in File Maintenance. The mandatory fields appear in red color. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar select Lookup or People Lookup The Person Lookup window opens. Select New. Adding Person or Patient Details

To add a patient, you must first enter data for all mandatory fields of the complete the required fields on each tab of the Add Patient Information or Add Person Information window, and then for other fields required by your practice. A system administrator can configure the mandatory fields in Enterprise Preferences and Practice Preferences in File Maintenance. Create Patient Charts

The patient or person lookup search results includes both patients and persons. To set up a person as a patient, you must create a chart for the person using the Create Encounter window. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM, and then select Chart or Chart Lookup The Patient Lookup window opens. Select New. The Add Patient Information window opens. Modify Patient Information- Encounte Enter the details in the required fields that appear in red color and any additional information you want to include for the person. Add a Patient on the Add Patient Information Window

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and NextGen® Optical Management, you can add a patient on the Add Patient Information window. A person becomes a patient after you add a chart to the person's profile on the Add Patient Information window. To access the Patient Information window: In NextGen® Enterprise PM, go to Step 2. Creating Patient Charts

An individual added to NextGen® Enterprise PM without a chart is known as a person. A person may be someone with an existing appointment, an account guarantor, insurance subscriber, or an emergency contact. A person is allocated a unique identifier and stored in the Master Person Index (MPI) which is shared by all individuals within an enterprise system. When you create a chart for a person in a practice, the person qualifies as a patient. Only the practice that creates the patient chart, has access to it. A patient associated with multiple practices has a single demographic record that can be shared with all other practices using MPI.
