Add a Patient on the Add Patient Information Window

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and NextGen® Optical Management, you can add a patient on the Add Patient Information window. A person becomes a patient after you add a chart to the person's profile on the Add Patient Information window.

  1. To access the Patient Information window:
    1. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, go to Step 2.
    2. In NextGen® Optical Management, go to Step 3.
    3. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, go to Step 4.
  2. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Chart icon.
    The Patient Lookup window appears.
    • To add a patient, select New.

      The Add Patient Information window appears.

    • To search for an existing person/patient, enter the search criteria. Then in the Matching Records list, select the patient, right-click and select Open.

      The Add/Modify Patient Information window appears.

  3. In NextGen Optical Management, select the Find a Patient icon, or select the Patients menu and then select Search.
    The Patient Lookup window appears.
    • To add a patient, select New.
    • To search for an existing patient, enter the search criteria and then select Find. Then in the Matching Records list, select the patient, right-click and select Open.

      The Modify Patient Information window appears. In NextGen® Optical Management, this window has the following tabs: Demographics, Client Defined, UDS, Ext, Pharmacy, and Chart Details.

  4. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select File and then select Patient or select the Patient Lookup icon.
    The Patient Lookup window appears.
    • To add a patient, select New.

      The Add Patient Information window appears.

    • To search for an existing person/patient, enter the search criteria and then select Find. Then in the Matching Records list, select the patient, right-click and select Open.

      The Add/Modify Patient Information window appears.

A NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment invitation email is automatically sent to the patient if the following information is provided while adding the patient:
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Birth Sex
  • Zip Code
  • Email Address
