Search for Patients with Secure Lookup
In
NextGen® Enterprise PM
, open the
Patient/People Lookup
window, and then do one of the following:
Enter the last four digits of the patient's social security number in the
L4DSSN
field.
Enter the patient's date of birth in the
Birth Date
field.
Enter the patient's first name and last name.
If you do not know the complete first and last names, you can enter part of each name or only the initials.
Select
Find
.
The
Patient/People Lookup
window displays the results of your search.
To select the patient, select
OK
.

Searching for Patients or Persons with Secure Lookup
Searching for Patients or Persons with Secure Lookup Searching for Patients or Persons with Secure Lookup You can perform a secure lookup for patients or persons not directly associated with your practice by entering their birth date or the last four digits of their social security number in the Patient/People Lookup window. You can also use secure lookup to provide additional means of authentication. To use secure lookup, you must meet the following requirements: The secure Birth Date and Social Security fields must be configured in System Administrator. These secure lookup fields have indicator next to the field name. The Enable Secure Lookup right must be set up in System Administrator. To search by L4DSSN, the patients or persons you are searching for must have their social security numbers stored in the database. Search for Patients with Secure Lookup
Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. In the Patient Lookup window, enter one of the following: The last four digits of the patient's Social Security number in the L4DSSN field. The patient’s date of birth in the Birth Date field. Enter the patient's first and last name, and then select Find. Select the patient record. Select OK.

You can search for a patient record that is not included in the practice by using the patient's first name, last name, Social Security number, and date of birth. From the main toolbar in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select Patient. In the Patient Lookup window, enter one of the following: The patient's last four digits of the Social Security number in the L4DSSN field. The patient’s date of birth in the Birth Date field. Secure Lookup Feature
If a person record does not display on thePeople/Patient Lookupwindow when you perform a search, you can perform a secure lookup to search for the record. This kind of lookup enables you to search for a person record by using the last four digits of the person's Social Security number (L4DSSN) or birth date. To use this feature, you must enter the last four digits of the person's Social Security number or the birth date and at least a partial first and partial last name. Assign Rights for the Secure Lookup Feature
To provide access to the secure lookup feature, security rights must be assigned to the appropriate user groups in your practice. When the Secure Lookup right is set to Yes for the group that the user belongs to, the L4DSSN and secure Birth Date fields display on the Person/Patient Lookup window; the fields do not display if the access right is set to No. For more information on using secure lookups in the People Lookup window, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Appointment Scheduling Guide for NextGen Enterprise PM. Select a group, and then select the Rights tab. In the Operations permissions group, expand Chart/Demographics/Employer, then select Secure Lookup.
