Classes	Classes are groupings of resources that can be used in Appointment Search Ahead window to locate the first available slot for a group of resources.
Resources	Resources include various people, places, and things that you can use to schedule appointments. For example, a provider (person), a procedure room (place), or a piece of equipment (thing).
Events	Events are the various types of appointments that will be scheduled for persons or patients in the practice.
Event Chains	Event Chains are groupings of events that must be scheduled together as a series of appointments. The purpose of an event chain is to enable you to schedule multiple appointments for a patient, without having to schedule each appointment separately. For example, an event chain might consist of an appointment with a nurse, followed by an appointment for a physical examination with a provider, followed by an appointment with the lab.
Categories	Categories are groupings of events. They are used when creating templates for resources. Placing a category on specific time slots within a template restricts the types of events that can be scheduled during such times.
Weekly Templates	Weekly templates determine the basic structure of a Monday through Friday schedule for a resource. Each template uses categories and service locations on specific blocks of time. Templates are then assigned to specific weeks on a resource's calendar on the Resource tab.
Daily Templates	Daily templates determine the basic structure of a single day's schedule for a resource. Each template uses categories and service locations on specific blocks of time. Templates are then assigned to specific days on a resource's calendar on the Resource tab.

Templates

Templates determine the basic structure of the appointment book in NextGen® Enterprise PM. You can create weekly and daily templates to define various schedules for a resource in the practice. Each template assigns event categories and locations to specific blocks of time. One or more templates are then assigned to a resource's calendar. Using the templates makes the appointment scheduling process much easier and reduces scheduling errors, conflicts, and overbooking of appointments. For example, if resource is not available in the office on Wednesday afternoons, you can create a template that automatically prevents anyone from scheduling office appointments for the resource on Wednesday afternoons. If you have a staff meeting every Tuesday at noon, you can include that in your scheduling templates. Event Chains Tab - Sched Admin

On the Event Chains tab, you can define groupings of events or appointment types that must be scheduled together as a series of appointments. You can use an event chain to schedule multiple appointments for a patient simultaneously instead of scheduling each appointment separately. The individual events within an event chain are referred to as event chain members. Event chain members can be scheduled with the same or different resources, within minutes, hours, or days of each other. The event chain setup determines whether the event chain members must be scheduled in a specific sequence or scheduled in a best fit sequence. Note: Specific parameters for each member event, such as resource duration overrides, default resources, appointment limits, SIM members, valid locations, and so on are defined on the Events tab of the Scheduling Administration window. Categories Tab - Sched Admin

On the Categories tab, you define groupings of events, or appointment types. You can use the categories while creating weekly and daily templates for resources. Each category is mapped to a specific time slot within a template, restricting the types of events that you can schedule appointments for the specified times. You can define color for each category and it displays in the Appointment Book window when you schedule an appointment. The color provides users at-a-glance guidance as to where certain type of appointments can be scheduled. Note: When you select the Enable Enterprise Appointment Scheduling option in Practice Preferences, the Scheduling Administration window name changes to Practice Scheduling Administration. Classes Tab - Practice Scheduling Admin

On the Classes tab, you define classifications or groupings for the resources that you schedule appointments for in your practice. Classes can be used to search for an open time slot within a group of similar resources. When using the appointment search ahead function to find an available time slot, you can search using an individual resource or a class of resources. Searching by class is useful when you need to scan through the schedules of multiple resources to find the first available appointment. Note: When you select the Enable Enterprise Appointment Scheduling option in Practice Preferences, the Scheduling Administration window name changes to Practice Scheduling Administration. Existing classes are listed on the Classes tab with the following information: Classification: The name of the class. Scheduling Administration

Scheduling Administration is an important function in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The Scheduling Administration creates the Appointment Book window and helps you schedule appointments for patients in a practice. Schedule an Event Chain over Multiple Days

Event chains can include any type of member events already created. An event chain, for a pre-employment includes lab work, drug screening, x-rays, and so on that may or may not be able to be completed on the same day. Some of these items may need to be completed before others. Therefore, you may have to schedule some of the events in the chain for different days. Note: You can create event chains in scheduling administration. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the main toolbar, select the ApptBook button. The Appointment Book window opens. In the Daily, Weekly Schedule, or Multi-View tabs, select the resource, date, and time slot for the first event in the event chain. Do one of the following: From the Appointment Book toolbar, select the Add Appt button. Right-click the time slot and, select New from the menu. Double-click the time slot. The Add Appointment window opens. In the Event/Event Chain field, select the desired event chain. Note: Event chains appear with a chain link icon. T
