First Third Available Report Columns

The following columns are available on the First Third Available report: Column Name Description Data Populates From Res Name Resource Name The resource for which you want to look up first third available appointments. Location SubGrp1 Location SubGroup1 Optional user-defined report filter that is set up in Enterprise Preferences, on the General tab. Location SubGrp2 Location SubGroup2 Optional user-defined report filter that is set up in Enterprise Preferences, on the General tab. Loc Name Service Location Name Add Appointment Event Event Add Appointment Appt Dt Appointment Date The date of the selected appointment. 3rd Avail Third Available days The number of calendar days until the third available appointment slot is open. First Third Available Report

The First Third Available Appointment report helps a practice identify the average number of days a patient must wait to see a resource for a specific type of appointment. The third next available appointment is used instead of the next available appointment because it is a more realistic depiction of how many days a patient would have to wait to see a provider. A measurement of only the next available appointment can easily be changed due to cancelations or other unexpected events. The settings you choose in Practice Preferences and Scheduling Administration determine the next third available appointment for the desired combination of patient, resource, and event. To access the report in NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Reports menu and select Scheduling and then select First Third Available. Search for Appointments Using Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead

In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Tasks > Appt Search > Enterprise. The Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window opens. Select or right-click the Patient open menu, and select Lookup. The Patient Lookup window opens. Note: This is an optional field. You can add the patient in the search you can add on the Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window. Else, you can add the patient while booking an appointment for the desired time slot. On the Patient Lookup window, find the patient for scheduling an appointment. The patient details appear on the Enterprise Appointment Search Ahead window. Select an enterprise event from Enterprise Event. Note: This is a required field. The other search criteria are enabled only after you select the enterprise event. In Search By, select Resources or Enterprise classes. Create an Appointment

NextGen recommends to create and manage appointments in NextGen® Enterprise PM, not in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, if you use NextGen® Enterprise PM as your scheduling source. Appointments created in NextGen® Enterprise EHR are not communicated to NextGen® Enterprise PM. You can create an appointment in NextGen® Enterprise EHR only if you have the View by Provider display setting enabled. If you select View by Resource, you cannot create an appointment in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You may also create an appointment in NextGen® Enterprise EHR if you use a third-party scheduling application instead of NextGen® Enterprise PM. You can create an appointment in the Appointments tab of the Workflow module. You can create a custom status for the appointment. Select a patient. Add an Appointment

You can schedule an appointment for a resource at a particular time and date. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the main toolbar, select the ApptBook button. The Appointment Book window opens. Note: For a better response time, open the Appointment Scheduling Preferences by selecting and then select Only show my preferred resources in the Resources tab. In the Daily, Weekly Schedule or Multi-View tabs, select a resource, a date, and a time slot to schedule an appointment. To add an appointment, do one of the following: From the Appointment Book toolbar, select the Add Appt button. Right-click the time slot and, select New from the menu. Double-click the time slot. The Add Appointment window opens. Enter the details for the mandatory fields in the Add Appointment window to schedule an appointment. Appointment Book Tab Filter Details

You can view the description of the filters available on the Appointment Book tab. The table provides information about the filters using which you can filter the patients. Filters Description Locations You can select one or more locations to filter patients for display in the patient grid. If you have not selected a location, then location options in the list default to locations associated with the practice you have selected at the time of log in. You can change the default location and select more than one location. When you close and return to the application, the previously selected locations in NextGen Care® Population Management Hub are available.
