Removing an Appointment

To remove an appointment from the schedule, you can either Cancel the appointment, or Delete the appointment. Both canceled and deleted appointments retain a record in the patient's chart and are available on reports.

When you cancel an appointment, you are prompted to select an Appointment Cancellation Reason. This is useful for tracking the various reasons that appointments are canceled. When you cancel the appointment, it is removed from the schedule and the appointment status changes to canceled.

When you delete an appointment, you are not prompted to select an Appointment Cancellation Reason. When you cancel the appointment, it is removed from the schedule. The appointment status does not change, but the appointment now has a deleted indicator.
