Process NextGen® Enterprise EHR Charges from the Pending Charges Process
You can process procedures from NextGen® Enterprise EHR that are in the pending charges holding tank in NextGen® Enterprise PM from the Process Pending Charges window. You can process charges for multiple encounters at the same time.
- Open NextGen® Enterprise PM.
- From the File menu, select Processes, and then Pending Charges.
The Process Pending Charges window opens.
- Enter the appropriate Search Criteria section to locate the desired pending charges.
- Select Service Location, and then select one or more charge locations or leave it blank for charges from any location.
- Select Rendering Physician, and then select one or more charge rendering providers or leave it blank for charges from any provider.
- Select Service Dates From/To, and then enter a charge service date range or leave it blank for charges from any date.
- Select Financial Class, and then select one or more charge financial class or leave it blank for charges from all financial classes of the primary payer of the pending charge.
- Select Primary Payer, and then select one or more charge primary payer or leave it blank for charges from all payers. These include both active and expired payers.
Note: You can choose to filter pending charges either by Financial Class or Primary Payer along with Service Location, Rendering Physician, and Service Dates From/To filtering options. If it is left blank, all charges from Financial Class and Primary Payer are accepted including system generated Patient Pay charges. You can filter self-pay pending charges by entering description in the Self Pay Description field of the General tab in Enterprise Preference and selecting Self Pay in the Financial Class field. - In the Process Date Override field, do one of the following:
- To process charges for the current date, leave it blank.
- To process charges for a prior financial period, enter the appropriate previous date.
Note: By default, this field shows the process date entered in Session Settings.
- Select Find.
Charges matching with the entered search criteria appear in the Pending Charge List section. All charges are pre-selected in the column.
- Clear charges that should not be processed, if applicable.
- To re-arrange and change the order of charges within an individual encounter, select upward arrow image and downward arrow image.
Note: The order displayed is the order that the charges are processed and pulled on the Charge Posting window.
- Do one of the following:
- Select Process to accept the selected charges.
A message appears stating to proceed charge processing.
Select OK.
The charges are removed from the pending charges holding tank and are pulled into the Charge Posting window for the encounter.
- Select Reject to reject the selected charges.
The charges are removed from the pending charges holding tank but are not pulled into the Charge Posting window for the encounter. Rejected charges cannot be retrieved again and must be manually re-entered.
- Select Close if you do accept nor reject the charges.
The charges remain in the pending charges holding tank and are available to process later.
- Select Process to accept the selected charges.
- To close the Process Pending Charges window, select Close.
