Enable In Progress Billing

Access NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Admin menu, select Preferences, and then Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. From the Preference List, select Encounters. To enable In Progress Billing for the practice, select the Enable In Progress billing status check box. A prompt appears stating that allowing 'In Progress' status cannot be undone once it is turned on. To continue and enable this feature, select Yes. Default New Encounters to In Progress Status

When the Enable In Progress billing status option is enabled in Practice Preferences > Encounters, you can enable additional options to ensure that new encounters created in the practice automatically default to In Progress status. Access NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Admin menu, select Preferences, and then Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. From the Preferences List, select Encounters. Enable In Progress Billing. CAUTION: Once In Progress Billing has been enabled, it cannot be disabled. It should only be enabled when needed. To default all new encounters created in the practice to In Progress status, select the Default all new encounters to In Progress check box. Set the Required Encounter-Level Programs for Specific Locations

You can now set a program to be required for the encounter for a specific location to ensure that all the encounters for that location are assigned with a program. To set the Program field as a required field for the encounter for a specific location on the Create Encounter window or the Encounter Maintenance window, do the following: From the Admin menu in NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Preferences and then select Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. From the preferences list, select Programs. Select the Enable Programs check box. The Required Encounter Level Programs check box is enabled. Select the Required Encounter Level Programs check box. The Limit to Valid Locations field is enabled. In the Limit to Valid Locations field, select one or more locations for which the program is required. Note: If you clear the Required Encounter Level Programs check box, all the selected locations are removed. To save the changes and close the window, select OK. For information on the

Programs Practice Preferences

The Programs practice preference allows you to enable or disable program-related functionality for the practice. When you select the Enable Programs check box, you can enable Programs in NextGen® Enterprise PM, and the following functionalities are available: On the Patient Information tab in Patient Chart, the Programs sub-tab appears. The sub-tab is used to enroll patients in one or more programs. On the General tab of the Encounter Maintenance window, the Program field appears. The field is used to link encounters to a program. On the General sub-tab of the Encounters tab in Patient Chart, the Program name is displayed for encounters linked to a program. You must select the Required Encounter Level Programs check box to make the program mandatory for the encounter for specific locations in encounter maintenance. Working with Programs in NextGen® Enterprise PM

When Programs are enabled for a practice, you can utilize the following functionality in NextGen® Enterprise PM: Enroll a patient in a program in the Patient Chart from Programs sub-tab under Patient Information tab . Link a patient's encounter to a program from the Create Encounter or General tab on the Encounter Maintenance window. Display a warning message when an encounter does not meet program-specific requirements. Default new encounters to In Progress status when they are created and linked to a specific program. View the program linked to a patient's encounter in the Patient Chart from the General sub-tab under the Encounters tab . Display warning messages on the Charge Posting window when a charge does not meet program-specific requirements. Generate a Daily Encounters, Billed Encounters or Unbilled Encounters report to review and monitor encounters that are linked to programs.
