Charge Test Results on Electronic Claims

Some payers require the test result details to be included on electronic 837P (1500) claims for reimbursement on specific tests, such as Creatinine, Hemoglobin and Hematocrit. The information required includes a qualifier that identifies the test, the test date, and the test result. An electronic 837P claim can create up to five separate MEA test result segments for results that you can enter manually from the Charge Posting window in NextGen® Enterprise PM or receive it through an interface. The MEA test results are included in the 2400 DTP*738 segment in the 837P electronic claim file. Note: You can use this functionality for electronic 837P (1500) claims. Enter NDC Information for a Charge

When you enter a charge for a HCPCS or CPT4 code that is set up in the NDC Library, NDC Data for this Charge window appears when the charge is saved. NDC Data for this Charge window allows you to entry NDC information for the charge. Depending on the number of existing NDC Ids in the NDC Library for the CPT4 code on the charge, the NDC information can be attached to the charge in the following ways: If only one NDC Id exists for the CPT4 code, then the NDC Id automatically attaches to the charge. If multiple NDC Ids exist for the CPT4 code, then an NDC Id can be manually selected for the charge. If no NDC Id exists for the CPT4 code, then an NDC Id can be manually added on-the-fly for the charge. Note: Hidden NDC IDs, are those that have been deleted from the NDC Library in File Maintenance. NDC Library in File Maintenance

The NDC (National Drug Code) library enables you to create an NDC drug product list to help you manage billing for drugs that are given in the clinic. In addition, the library enables you to define the relationships between NDC and CPT4 codes. NDC is a universal product identifier for human drugs. Each drug product listed is assigned a unique 11-digit, 3-segment number. This number, known as the NDC identifies the labeler/vendor, product, and trade package size. Select an Existing NDC for a Charge

To select an existing NDC ID for a charge, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter. Do one of the following using a SIM code that requires NDC information. Enter a new charge, and then select Save. Select an existing charge, and then select the NDC Charges icon on the Charge Posting toolbar. The NDC Data for this Charge window opens. Select the Open Record button. The NDC Lookup window opens displaying the list of all existing NDC records for the CPT code. To search for a specific NDC Id, select the following in the Search In section. The NDC option to search by the NDC ID. The Description option to search by the NDC Description. Select the Type the first number(s) of the NDCs you want to locate field, and then enter the desired search criteria. You can select a National drug Code ID (NDC ID) for a procedure. Open the Procedures window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To select NDC ID, select the ellipsis button. The Select National Drug Code ID window opens. Select National Drug Code ID Enter one of the following: Description, NDC ID, CPT4. Select Search. In the results, select the required NDC ID. Do one of the following: To exit with the selected NDC ID, select OK. To empty all search fields and perform a new search, select Clear. To exit without selecting an NDC ID, select Cancel.
