To select an existing NDC ID for a charge, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter. Do one of the following using a SIM code that requires NDC information. Enter a new charge, and then select Save. Select an existing charge, and then select the NDC Charges icon on the Charge Posting toolbar. The NDC Data for this Charge window opens. Select the Open Record button. The NDC Lookup window opens displaying the list of all existing NDC records for the CPT code. To search for a specific NDC Id, select the following in the Search In section. The NDC option to search by the NDC ID. The Description option to search by the NDC Description. Select the Type the first number(s) of the NDCs you want to locate field, and then enter the desired search criteria. To add a NDC Id for a charge, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter. Do one of the following using a SIM code that requires NDC information. Enter a new charge, and then select Save or Next. Select an existing charge, and then select the NDC Charges icon on the Charge Posting toolbar. The NDC Data for this Charge window opens. Select National Drug Code, and then enter the NDC Id in the 11-digit 12345-6789-01 format. Note: This field is required. Digits 1-5 indicate label, digits 6-9 indicate product, and digits 10-11 indicate package. In the Eff Date and Exp Date fields, enter the effective and expiration dates for the new NCD Id. These fields are required. When you enter a new NCD Id, the Service Date on the charge must fall within the Effective Date and Expiration Date and saved on the charge. Note: If the service date does not fall within the date range, a message appears stating thatAdd a New NDC for a Charge

National Drug Code (NDC) information can be captured for specific HCPCS or CPT4 codes in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Some payers require the NDC information to be included on electronic claims for reimbursement. Setting up NDC You can set up NDC information in File Maintenance. Enter NDC Information for a Charge You can enter NDC information on the NDC Data for this Charge window. You can select a National drug Code ID (NDC ID) for a procedure. Open the Procedures window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To select NDC ID, select the ellipsis button. The Select National Drug Code ID window opens. Select National Drug Code ID Enter one of the following: Description, NDC ID, CPT4. Select Search. In the results, select the required NDC ID. Do one of the following: To exit with the selected NDC ID, select OK. To empty all search fields and perform a new search, select Clear. To exit without selecting an NDC ID, select Cancel. The NDC (National Drug Code) library enables you to create an NDC drug product list to help you manage billing for drugs that are given in the clinic. In addition, the library enables you to define the relationships between NDC and CPT4 codes. NDC is a universal product identifier for human drugs. Each drug product listed is assigned a unique 11-digit, 3-segment number. This number, known as the NDC identifies the labeler/vendor, product, and trade package size. Column Description NDC Id Enter the unique 11-digit, 3-segment National Drug Code number. If the number you have is not 11 digits, you must enter the necessary preceding zeros. Note: The system automatically formats the number when the charge is passed to NextGen® Enterprise PM. CPT4 Enter the CPT4 code associated with the NDC. You can enter up to nine characters with two modifiers. Eff Date Enter the date the NDC becomes effective. Note: The system automatically formats the number when the charge is passed to NextGen® Enterprise PM. If you entered an incorrect date and you want to move the cursor to the front of the cell, select the cell, and then select F2. Exp Date Enter the date the NDC ends.
