Itemized Bills, also known as Encounter Bills or Encounter Invoices, are like statements, they include charge and transaction (payment, adjustment, refund) only for a single encounter. They are typically printed on demand as needed. An itemized bill is used to replace a hand-written receipt for a patient payment received on an encounter. If a patient has an appointment today, they pay their co-pay at check-in, and enter the transaction as an encounter unapplied credit. You can print an encounter bill at check-in and give it to the patient as a receipt showing their payment. The encounter bill can also be printed later at check-out, after charges are entered and their unapplied co-pay from check-in is applied to a charge. At this point the encounter bill shows today’s charges in addition to the patient’s payment at check-in. You can also use an itemized bill as a means of billing a patient for an outstanding self-pay balance on an encounter. If a patient has an appointment today and isItemized Bills

The following table describes the fields available to set up forms in Practice Preferences. Field Description Standard Header Information Use the up and down arrows to set the offset information fields that enable you to set the location of the listed Letter Header Information. Use a positive number to move the information down or to the right. Use a negative number to move the information up or to the left. Credit Card Acceptance Select the credit cards that your practice accepts. Options include VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. The selected credit card emblems display on the forms along with instructions to the patient for submitting a credit card payment. Header/Footer Display Options Field Description Display Remittance header on first page only Select this check box to display the standard Remittance Header on the first page only for multi-page forms, and an abbreviated header on all subsequent pages. The standard account receipt header includes the following information: Fields Description Header Make Checks Payable To Displays the practice name and address. Message Displays the header message from Practice Preferences > Itemized Bills Body DATE Displays the date of main transaction in the first row, and the date of service in the other rows ACCT/PATIENT NAME Displays the guarantor name and the patient name. ENC/INV Displays the invoice numbers and service sequence followed by the encounter number, and service sequence. DESCRIPTION Displays the main transaction in the first row, service item codes in the remaining rows; and if applied, the unapplied amount in the last row. PYMT ON
