Additional Information about an Encounter

The Properties tab displays additional information about the encounter, but the fields that display this information cannot be edited. The Properties tab includes the following read-only information: Field Description Checkin Displays the date and time the encounter was created using the Checkin/Create Encounter process for individual appointment and group appointment in the Appointment Book. Checkout Displays the date and time the encounter was checked out using the Checkout process for individual appointment and group appointment in the Appointment Book. Elapsed Time Displays the amount of time elapsed between the Checkin/Create Encounter and Checkout processes for individual appointment and group appointment. Encounter Date Displays the original date and time for the encounter. This information will not change even if the Billable Date and Billable Time on the encounter are changed. Locked By If the encounter is locked in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, this displays how the encounter was

Encounter Maintenance - Clinical Tab

The Clinical tab includes clinical information about the patient’s encounter. The tab is useful for those who do not have NextGen® Enterprise, but would like to capture limited clinical information for each encounter in NextGen® Enterprise PM. All fields on this tab require numeric entries, not text. The information on this tab is not available or viewable in NextGen® Enterprise. The Clinical tab includes the following fields: Field Description Height (In Inches) Enter the patient’s height at the time of the encounter. Weight (In Pounds) Enter the patient’s weight at the time of the encounter. Temperature Enter the patient’s temperature at the time of the encounter. Pulse Enter the patient’s pulse at the time of the encounter. Blood Pressure Enter the patient’s systolic and diastolic pressure at the time of the encounter. Encounter Maintenance - UB Tab

The UB tab includes information about the patient’s encounter that may be needed on electronic 837I or paper UB claims for the encounter. Note: This tab displays only if the default Type of Facility and Bill Classification options have been enabled in the Claims preferences under Practice Preferences. The UB tab has the following sub-tabs: General Condition Codes Occurrence Codes Value Codes UB General Sub-Tab UB Condition Codes Sub-Tab UB Occurrence Codes Sub-Tab Occurrence Codes define specific events relating to a bill that may affect payer processing. You can select one Occurrence Code and Date for field locators 31a - 34b, or up to eight (8) codes and dates per encounter. UB Value Codes Sub-Tab Value codes indicate the code and related dollar amounts that identify monetary data required for processing claims. You can modify the code and the dollar amount when specific codes and amounts are needed on the UB claim for the encounter. Parent topic: Encounter Maintenance

Add the Supervisor Field on the Encounter Maintenance Window

By default, the Supervisor field does not display on the General tab of the Encounter Maintenance window. To allow users to select a supervising provider for an encounter, you must make the Supervisor field display on the window. To add the Supervisor field to the Encounter Maintenance window: From the Master Files > System list, select Practice. The Practices List window displays. Double-click the appropriate practice. The Modify Practice Information window displays. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window displays. Select the Encounters preferences. In the Providers section: Select the Supervisor check box to add the Supervisor field to Encounter Maintenance. If you want to make the Supervisor field required, select the Require Supervisor check box. Select OK. Parent topic: Supervisor Billing

Viewing General Information in Encounters Viewing General Information in Encounters The General tab under Encounters in the patient's chart displays general, provider, diagnosis, and guarantor information for the selected encounter. You can use the Encounters tab to do the following: Open an encounter to view the Encounter Maintenance window. Right-click an encounter to open the shortcut menu. Add or to modify an encounter. Add or modify encounter-level diagnosis codes for an encounter in the ICD-CM section. You can view the ICD-9 to ICD-10 mapping for the ICD-10 codes that have been attached to the patient for the encounter. Add or modify guarantor information for an encounter in the Guarantor section. View the existing case icon next to the encounter number in the Encounters section if Case Management has been enabled for your practice and a case is associated with the encounter. Viewing History Information

The History tab appears only for existing persons and patients. It does not appear when creating a record for a new person or patient. On this tab, you can view the history of modifications made to the person or patient's information on the following tabs; Demographics, Status, Client Defined, Employer, UDS, Pharmacy, and Chart Details. Information on the History tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Note: History information cannot be modified or deleted.
