Encounter Maintenance - Clinical Tab

The Clinical tab includes clinical information about the patient’s encounter. The tab is useful for those who do not have NextGen® Enterprise, but would like to capture limited clinical information for each encounter in NextGen® Enterprise PM. All fields on this tab require numeric entries, not text. The information on this tab is not available or viewable in NextGen® Enterprise. The Clinical tab includes the following fields: Field Description Height (In Inches) Enter the patient’s height at the time of the encounter. Weight (In Pounds) Enter the patient’s weight at the time of the encounter. Temperature Enter the patient’s temperature at the time of the encounter. Pulse Enter the patient’s pulse at the time of the encounter. Blood Pressure Enter the patient’s systolic and diastolic pressure at the time of the encounter. Additional Information about an Encounter

The Properties tab displays additional information about the encounter, but the fields that display this information cannot be edited. The Properties tab includes the following read-only information: Field Description Checkin Displays the date and time the encounter was created using the Checkin/Create Encounter process for individual appointment and group appointment in the Appointment Book. Checkout Displays the date and time the encounter was checked out using the Checkout process for individual appointment and group appointment in the Appointment Book. Elapsed Time Displays the amount of time elapsed between the Checkin/Create Encounter and Checkout processes for individual appointment and group appointment. Encounter Date Displays the original date and time for the encounter. This information will not change even if the Billable Date and Billable Time on the encounter are changed. Locked By If the encounter is locked in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, this displays how the encounter was

Changes and modifications made to the encounter from other tabs within the Encounter Maintenance window are displayed here. The read-only information displayed cannot be modified and includes the following: Date/Time Creator Description Old Information New Information Double-click on an item in the Encounter History list to view detailed information about the modification. Collections

The Billing & Collections tab on the Encounter Maintenance window includes specific fields that are used for follow-up and collection purposes. On the Billing & Collections tab, you can do the following: Enter an encounter follow-up date Send an encounter collection letter Add or modify encounter notes Enter an Encounter Follow-up Date You can enter an encounter follow up date on the Encounter Maintenance window. Send an Encounter Collection Letter You can send an encounter collection letter for collection of an outstanding self-pay balance. Add or Modify an Encounter Note You can add or modify an encounter note on the Encounter Maintenance window. Use the Collections Follow Up Report The Collections Follow Up report is used to track encounters that have a follow up date.

Add the Supervisor Field on the Encounter Maintenance Window

By default, the Supervisor field does not display on the General tab of the Encounter Maintenance window. To allow users to select a supervising provider for an encounter, you must make the Supervisor field display on the window. To add the Supervisor field to the Encounter Maintenance window: From the Master Files > System list, select Practice. The Practices List window displays. Double-click the appropriate practice. The Modify Practice Information window displays. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window displays. Select the Encounters preferences. In the Providers section: Select the Supervisor check box to add the Supervisor field to Encounter Maintenance. If you want to make the Supervisor field required, select the Require Supervisor check box. Select OK. Parent topic: Supervisor Billing
