Add or Modify Service Unit Authorization

  1. Access authorizations for a patient's insurance.
    The Authorization Listing window opens.
  2. To add a service unit authorization, select open menu and then select New > Service Unit Authorization.
    The Service Unit Limitation Maintenance window opens.

  3. Do the following:
    • Enter a description for the service unit authorization.
    • Enter the authorization code obtained from the payer.

      Point to the Information to view tool tip information stating that the authorization code is for tracking purposes only and is not sent on claims.

    • Enter the start and end date for the authorization.
    • Enter the date when the patients needs and strengths were last assessed.
    • Select a service package for the authorization.
  4. The Service Configurations section lists all the configurations within the selected package. For information on columns in the Service Configurations section, see Service Configuration Columns.
  5. In the Notes field, enter additional free-text information about the authorization.
  6. To save the changes and close the window, select OK.
    The service unit authorization is saved and appears in the Authorization Listing window.
  7. To add an add-on package and update the existing fields, select the service unit authorization in the Authorization Listing window, select open menu and then select Open.
    The Service Unit Limitation Maintenance window opens.
  8. Update the Description, Authorization Code, Start Date, Stop Date, and Assessment Date fields as required.
  9. Select the add-on packages from the Add On Packages field.

    Point to the Information icon on the right to view the tool tip information stating that if a standard service package and an add-on service package have the same CPT4 code, then the add-on service package is not displayed in the Add On Packages field.
  10. To save the changes and close the window, select OK.
