Enter a Custom Max and Duration for a Service Configuration

After a service unit Authorization has been entered and saved for a patients insurance, the default Max and Duration values can be modified for a specific service configuration, if required. For example, the payer has authorized additional service units or days for the patient. Access authorizations for a patient's insurance. The Authorization Listing window opens. From the list, select a service unit authorization to be modified, and then select open menu and select Open. The Service Unit Limitation Maintenance window opens. In the Update Custom Service Configurations section, do the following: In the Service Configurations field, select the configuration for which you want to update Custom Max and Custom Duration. Select the Update Custom option. This option is selected by default. In the Custom Max field, enter a value between 1 and 9999 to override the default Max value. In the Custom Duration Days field, enter a value between 1 and 365 to override the default Duration value. Selec

Remove a Custom Max and Duration for a Service Configuration

After a service configuration has been updated with Custom Max and Custom Duration values, the custom values can be removed, if required. For example, if you have updated the wrong service configuration with custom values, or you have updated the correct service configuration but with incorrect custom values. Access authorizations for a patient's insurance. The Authorization Listing window opens. From the list, select a service unit authorization to be modified, and then select open menu and select Open. The Service Unit Limitation Maintenance window opens. In the Update Custom Service Configurations section, do the following: In the Service Configurations field, select the configuration for which you want to remove the Custom Max and Custom Duration values. Select the Remove Custom option. To remove the custom values for the selected configuration, select Delete. Delete a Service Unit Authorization

A service unit authorization can be deleted, if needed. For example, if you entered an authorization under the wrong insurance for a patient, you can delete it and then add it under the correct insurance. Access authorizations for a patient's insurance. The Authorization Listing window opens. To delete a service unit authorization, select it from the list and then do one of the following: Select Open Menu and then select Delete. Right-click and then select Delete. The following prompt displays: Confirm delete of the Service Unit Authorization code [Number]? To delete the service unit authorization, select Yes. Service Configuration Columns

The following columns are available in the Service Configurations section on the Service Unit Limitation Maintenance. Column Name Description Service Configuration Name The name of the service configuration. Custom Max The values in the Custom Max column appear only if the default Max is updated with custom values for a specific service configuration. For more information, see Enter a Custom Max and Duration for a Service Configuration. Max The maximum number of units or hours allowed for services included in the configuration. Max Type The type of maximum for services included in the configuration, either Unit or Hour. Duration The number of days allowed for services included in the configuration. If this field is blank, the configuration uses the number of days between the start date and stop date. If this field is not blank, the configuration uses the defined number of days within the start and stop date range. Custom Duration The values in the Custom Duration column appears only if

Add or Modify Service Unit Authorization

Access authorizations for a patient's insurance. The Authorization Listing window opens. To add a service unit authorization, select open menu and then select New > Service Unit Authorization. The Service Unit Limitation Maintenance window opens. Do the following: Enter a description for the service unit authorization. Enter the authorization code obtained from the payer. Point to the Information to view tool tip information stating that the authorization code is for tracking purposes only and is not sent on claims. Enter the start and end date for the authorization. Enter the date when the patients needs and strengths were last assessed. Select a service package for the authorization. Note: The Add On Packages field is disabled for a new authorization. The Level of Need field and the Adult or Child options are updated from the selected package. These fields cannot be modified.
