Merge Specific Duplicate Person/Patient Records in File Maintenance

You can perform a lookup to find the specific records. The lookup ignores the search scenario criteria. A merge based on a lookup merges persons and patients regardless of whether they have a chart. To merge a specific person/patient record, do one of the following: In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select File > Processes > Patient Merge In File Maintenance, select File > Patient Merge. A reminder that the Person Merge process is database intensive appears. To continue, select Yes. The Person Merge window opens. Select Exact People. The People Lookup - Merge Person 1 window opens. Enter the search criteria for the first person or patient to use in the merge, and then select Find. When the results display, select a record, and then select Open. The People Lookup - Merge Person 2 window opens. Enter the search criteria for the second person or patient to use in the merge, and then select Find. Security Rights for Merging Person and Patient Records in File Maintenance

Security rights enable you to limit personnel access to the merge process at four levels: Association Level.Enables users to merge duplicate person and patient records within practices that are in the same association. Enterprise Level. Enables users to merge duplicate person and patient records within the enterprise. Practice Level. Enables users to merge duplicate person and patient records within the practice he or she is logged on to. System Level. Enables users to merge duplicate person and patient records from within all practices within the system. A user with enterprise-level Person Merge access rights can run a practice-level Person Merge from any of the practices within the enterprise. A user with only practice-level Person Merge access rights cannot run an enterprise-level Person Merge. If your facility uses bothNextGen® Enterprise PMandNextGen® Enterprise EHR, you are required to select which specificNextGen® Enterprise EHRDemographic Templates from the patient's chart to keep during the merge process. When duplicate patients are merged, allNextGen® Enterprise EHRMedical Records Templates for both patients are automatically merged along with all other applicable patient data. Significant Events for Person Merge in File Maintenance

When a patient record is merged, a significant event is created at the practice level. You can view the event on the Clinical History/Notes tab of the retained patient's chart. If a merged patient does not have a chart or any encounters, a significant event is not created. You can memorize (save) the significant events report. The chart-level event contains the following merged patient data: Name Medical record number Social Security number Birth date Sex Address Home phone number A Significant Events report is available in NextGen® Enterprise PM.
