Group Medications By Payer, Problem, and Practice Interface

From the Master Files - System list, select Medication Tasks. The Medications Task window opens. Under Medications Tasks, select Medications By Payer, Medications By Problem, or Medications By Practice Interface. The Manage Medications By Payer/Problem/Practice Interface window opens. In the Search for Item field, depending on what you selected in the previous step, type the beginning of the name or the whole name of the payer, problem, or practice interface. Select Search. The Results list displays the items that match what you typed. In the Results list, select a problem. In the Search for Medication field, type the beginning of medication name, and then select Search. The Med Search Results list displays the medications that match what you typed. To add a medication, select the medication in the Med Search Results list, and then use the arrows to move it to the Medication List. Medication Tasks

The Medication Tasks master file provides a comprehensive list of all medications in the database. This master file is usually populated during installation. You can view medications, modify the list, and add additional medications to the list of company-specific and provider-specific medications. You can also group medications according to payer, problem, or practice interface. Prescribe a New Medication

You can prescribe a new medication to a patient from the Medication Search window. Note: NextGen® Enterprise EHR automatically checks a new prescribed medication against the patient’s other prescribed medications and displays an alert if a drug interaction exists. NextGen® Enterprise EHR displays an alert for inactive ingredients with the associated allergic reactions and the percentage of available formulation that contains the inactive ingredients. Creating a Case

Because NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM share the same database, Case information captured in NextGen® Enterprise PM is available in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. The same information should appear in both applications when creating, editing, and viewing Cases. If you are using a different practice management system, all of the relevant Case information is populated in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR through an interface. The information added or modified at the Case level is inherited and available at the Encounter level. Case details are associated with modular data including medications, allergies, problems, procedures, and labs. For example, a patient may have been prescribed pain medication for a back injury that occurred at work. The patient may also be taking other medications that have nothing to do with their back injury, such as birth control, heartburn, allergy-treating, or other unrelated medications. Managing Patient Cases in NextGen® Enterprise EHR

The Case Management functionality enables users of both NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM applications to group patient encounters based upon common data into cases. Cases may include workers' compensation, occupational health (non-injury), ambulatory care, group health PT as well as other encounter details. This enables users to submit only the medical-record data of each patient that is required to meet insurance and legal obligations.
