Grouping Medications By Payer, Problem and Practice

The Medication Tasks master file enables you to group all medications in the database by payer, by a problem's diagnosis, and by a practice interface Medications grouped by: Payer allows you to efficiently search for medications in NextGen® Enterprise EHR by a payer name. Problem enables you to efficiently search for medications in NextGen® Enterprise EHR by a diagnosis. The diagnoses are set up in the ICD9CM master file. The Medications By Problem master file is user-defined. Practice interface provides a list of the medications that the practice's internal pharmacy provides. It is not an inventory list. You can add and remove medications to the list. The medications display when you elect to send electronic prescriptions to a pharmacy interface in the new Medication Module. The medications are automatically sent to the default pharmacy interface that you set in the Medication Practice Preferences. From the Master Files - System list, select Medication Tasks. The Medications Task window opens. Under Medications Tasks, select Medications By Payer, Medications By Problem, or Medications By Practice Interface. The Manage Medications By Payer/Problem/Practice Interface window opens. In the Search for Item field, depending on what you selected in the previous step, type the beginning of the name or the whole name of the payer, problem, or practice interface. Select Search. The Results list displays the items that match what you typed. In the Results list, select a problem. In the Search for Medication field, type the beginning of medication name, and then select Search. The Med Search Results list displays the medications that match what you typed. To add a medication, select the medication in the Med Search Results list, and then use the arrows to move it to the Medication List. Add Problems to the Problems Module

You can add a problem to the Problem module to make the relevant details appear in the Care Guidelines Paged View template. Before you begin To view medication specific details in the Care Guidelines template, you need to add a problem and medication details for the patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open a patient chart, and create an encounter. Open the Problems module. Select Add ICD. Select a category, and then search for and select an ICD code relevant to the indication selected in the Medication Specific template.The details appear in the grid. Select the status, and then select Accept.
