Reason Codes Library

You can create and maintain reason codes in a Reason Codes library. A reason code is a brief description that is added to a transaction to explain how that transaction was handled. When ERA files are involved, reason codes are returned in the file by the payer to describe how the service was reimbursed. Reason code libraries group related reason codes together. For example, you can have a reason code library that contains the reasons that a claim can be cancelled. You can generate the Reason Codes Master report from the Reason Codes library. Set Up Tasks for Auto Creation for Posted Payment Reason Codes

You can set up tasks to be automatically generated when a reason code is used on a posted payment or on a posted payment transaction. When set up, these tasks are not created until a payment is posted. To set up a task to be automatically generated when a payment is posted, perform the following steps: Open or set up new Task Types. In the Source Type field, select Encounter. This field is required. A list of task action descriptions for the Encounter source type display in the Action column. the items in the list represent events that occur in the application that you can select to automatically generate tasks. If you want to assign a value to the task for reporting purposes, select the up and down arrows in the Task Value field. The higher the number, the more important the task is. This number ranks all of the tasks by source type. Therefore, if you have three tasks with a source type of encounter and they have task values of 1, 5, and 10, the task with a task value of 10 is more im

Setup Auto-Create Tasks for Transactions Posted to a Voided Charge

You can setup a Task Type to automatically generate tasks when a payment or adjustment transaction is posted, either manually or by ERA, to a voided charge. Note: In order for ERA transactions to auto-create tasks, the Post to a voided charge option must be enabled in the Default tab of Remittance Profile Library. Access File Maintenance. Select System Master Files > PM > Tasks Types. The Task Types List window appears. Select the Open Menu button and select New. The Task Types window appears. In the Task Type field, enter a free-text description for the task. This field is required. In the Source Type field, select Encounter. This field is required. Complete the Task Value, Task Subgrouping 1, Task Subgrouping 2, and Note fields as needed for the task. Select the Auto Creation tab. On the Add Task window, do the following: In the Task Type field, select the type of task to be created. This field is required. Note: The Task Types available for selection are those that are setup in File Maintenance with a Source Type of Chart. In the Status field, select the default of Not Started. Set Up Auto Worker Tasks to Move Balances to Patient Responsibility

This auto worker option in task types automatically moves balance from one bucket to another. For example, when the patient's insurance does not pay a balance after a specified number of days, the balance automatically moves to patient responsibility. This task is worked automatically by the application based on the Auto Worker action chosen and completed. The completed task is then reflected in the Worklog and the Edit Task dialog box in NextGen® Enterprise PM. For an encounter-based task type, the auto create action that triggers this is No third party payment received for 0 days since the claim process date for financial class <Unknown>.
