Events Tab
You can specify the default preferred events and events chains for Appointment and Waitlist searches for users. To set up default preferred events for appointment scheduling, do the following: Open a User Prefs - Scheduling master file. The Default User Preferences - Scheduling window opens. Select the Events tab. If you want users to see only the preferred events, select the Only show my preferred events check box, and then select the preferred events from the top section. Note: Users can override this option on the Add Appointment window by selecting Show All Events. If you want users to see only the preferred event chains, select the Only show my preferred event chains check box, and then select the preferred event chains from the bottom section. To prioritize the events and event chains, highlight an event or event chain, and then select or to move it up or down. You can also use the double arrows to move it to the top or bottom of the list. Tooltip Tab
Tooltips enable users to easily view key information about appointments. The tooltips display in NextGen® Enterprise PM when the user hovers the mouse cursor over an appointment. The items selected on the Tooltip tab of the User Appointment Scheduling Preferences determine which information displays in the tooltip. Open a User Prefs - Scheduling master file. The Default User Preferences - Scheduling window opens. Select the Tooltip tab. In the Display after field, select the number of seconds you want to pass before the tooltips appears. Select the tooltips that you want to appear. Note: The Eligibility Process Status and Response Status items are related to NextGen® Eligibility Verification. To change the order of the tooltip items in the list, highlight one, and then select or to move it up or down. You can also use the double arrows to move the tooltip to the top or bottom of the list. Default User Prefs - Scheduling
You can designate default scheduling user preference settings in File Maintenance and then apply them to all users within a group or to individual users in System Administrator. Open File Maintenance. Select Practice Master Files, then PM, and then Default User Prefs - Scheduling. The Default User Prefs - Scheduling List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new item, selectOpen Menu, and then selectNew. To modify an existing item, select the item in the list, selectOpen Menu, and then selectOpen. You can also double-click to open the item. When the above step is performed, the below mentioned window appears. The Default User Preferences - Appointment Scheduling window opens. In the Default User Preference Name field, enter an name for the scheduling preferences. This field is required. Set Up Preferred Appointment Scheduling Resources
Open a User Prefs - Scheduling master file. The Default User Preferences - Scheduling window opens. Select the Resources tab. To set the display order of the resources, highlight a resource in the Preferred resources section, and then select or to move it up or down. You can also use the double arrows to move it to the top or bottom of the list. If you want users to see only the preferred resources, select the Only show my preferred resources check box, and then select the preferred resources in the Preferred resources section. In the Default resource(s)/class for Appt Search section, select the resources to display and use as the default resources for any appointment search. Select OK. Parent topic: Resources Tab

Appointment Search/Waitlist Field Descriptions
You can use this table when setting your Appointment Search/Wait List defaults. Field Description Find Next 'X' Appts Use the spinner box to increase or decrease the value for the default number of appointments NextGen® Enterprise PM searches through and displays. Day of Week You can select the day of the week to use as the default, or primary, day of the week NextGen® Enterprise PM searches for an appointment. You can also select the No Preference option which displays the first day available. Default appointments to return "X" in search ahead Use the up and down arrows to set the default value for the number of appointments that you want returned when using the Appointment Search Ahead window to look for appointments. The default value, which defaults to 5, can be set to a value of 5 through 25. Once this value is set, it displays in the Find next "X" Appts field on the Appointment Search Ahead window. Appointment Scheduling Preferences
Appointment Scheduling Preferences control how specific functions and tasks work in the Appointment Book in NextGen® Enterprise PM. While some settings are strictly for customizing the display, others affect the application behavior. You must complete these settings before opening the Appointment Book for the first time. In File Maintenance, scheduling preferences can be defined in the Default User Prefs - Scheduling master file, and then assigned to groups of users or individual users in System Administrator. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest File Maintenance Master Files Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, you can modify your own scheduling preferences in Admin > Preferences > User > Scheduling. Your settings override any default settings that were assigned to you in System Administrator.
