The table shows your options for configuring practice-level settings for the Medication module in NextGen® Enterprise EHR.

eRx: always send generic name if not DAW | Select this option to have all medications sent through eRx using the generic name unless the provider selected the Dispense as Written checkbox. |
Enable Standard Sigs | This field is not currently used. |
Enable Sig Override | This field is not currently used. |
Allow Prescribing Delegates | Select this option to allow providers with to delegate users with appropriate rights for sending medications on their behalf. When you select this option, a user preference becomes available in NextGen® Enterprise EHR for providers to limit and manage the delegates.

Display PDR BRIEF | Select this option to allow drug safety information from the Physician's Desk Reference (PDR) web service. The drug safety information appears when a prescriber prescribes a medication in the Medications module. Users can turn the PDR BRIEF on or off in NextGen® Enterprise EHR user preferences, and the user setting overrides the practice preference. |
Enable Tall Man Medications | Select this option to allow mixed-case letters for medications to help users distinguish between medications that have similar names. When there are medications with similar names, they appear with some letters capitalized. For example, acetazolamide and acetohexamide have similar names. In the First Data Base listing, the names are acetaZOLAMIDE and acetoHEXAMIDE, and they appear as such in the Medications module and medication search windows. Users can turn the tall man casing on or off in NextGen® Enterprise EHR user preferences, and the user setting overrides the practice preference. |
Enable Patient Savings Program | Select this option to allow various savings programs that present offers and patient education for patients who qualify at the point of prescribing. For more information about the patient savings programs, see the Clinical Modules Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR or the ePrescribing Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Users can turn the patient savings program on or off in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR user preferences, and the user setting overrides the practice preference. |
Patient Savings Program Eligibility Response | You can enter the response time (0 to 30 seconds) for the Send button to respond. This gives the provider more time to review the eligibility response for patient savings programs before a medication is sent to a pharmacy. |
Patient Savings Printer | When Enable Patient Savings Program is selected, you must select a default printer to allow users to print materials related to the patientsavings programs. This printer becomes the default printer for the entire practice. Users can select a different patient savings program printer in NextGen® Enterprise EHR user preferences, and the user setting overrides the practice preference. |
Display MME Calculation | Select the option to calculate and display the morphine milligram equivalent (MME) calculation in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. |
Display MME/Day Threshold Limit Increase Alert (MME/Day) | Select the option to allow application messages in NextGen® Enterprise EHR when the total MME/day value exceeds the set threshold value. You can also set the maximum threshold value (0 to 999) for total MME/day in the (MME/Day) counter. You cannot set the value as blank, as zero, or as negative. The maximum threshold value in the MME/Day counter is set to 90 by default. |
Allow Sending eRx to Multiple Destinations | Select this option to allow users to send prescriptions to multiple pharmacies. The following are some situations when you would want to select this option:

Default Pharmacy Interface | Select a default pharmacy destination if you selected the Allow Sending eRx to Multiple Destinations checkbox. This pharmacy is the default interface (medication destination) selected when users prescribe and send medications. If necessary, users can override the default by selecting a different pharmacy. |
Unmatched Refill Request Provider Preference | Select the provider to use as the default filter when users attempt to resolve unmatched refill requests. The list of unmatched refill requests shows only the unmatched refill requests that are associated with the provider. Select one of the following options: All Providers – the Filtered By field displays All Providers, and the list shows all unmatched refill requests for all providers. Current Provider – the Filtered By field displays the current provider name, and the list shows all unmatched refill requests for the current provider. Assigned Provider – the Filtered By field displays the assigned provider name, and the list shows all unmatched refill requests for the assigned provider. |
Office of Pharmacy Affairs 340b ID | Providers can send the 340b ID details to the pharmacy by filling the Office of Pharmacy Affairs 340b ID field. Then, patients can claim a discount if they are 340b eligible. |
Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) Settings | |
Enable PDMP Gateway | Select this option to allow users with PDMP security rights to request and view a patient’s PDMP report. When you select this option, the PDMP button in the Medications module becomes available to authorized users to select other PDMP practice preferences. |
PDMP Username and PDMP Password | Enter the PDMP username and password (Bamboo Health/gateway credentials) provided to you by Bamboo Health. |
PDMP Review Required | Select this option if the state or practice requires users to view a patient’s PDMP report before they can send, fax, or print a prescription or refill for a controlled substance. |
Enable State PDMP | Select this option to make the PDMP Viewed through State Portal button available in the Medications module for users who do not use Bamboo Health and to ensure that the PDMP was checked on the state's PDMP website before prescribing a controlled substance. |
PDMP reviewed information displays on document when accessed within # days prior to encounter | Enter the number of days the Document Builder macro should search to capture the last time the PDMP was reviewed. The reviews appear in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR document. For example, if you enter three days, then PDMP reviews done within three days of the encounter date will appear in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR document. |
