Add or Modify a Lens Option

You can create a list of coatings that can be added to a lens to specify the SIM code associated with the coating. On the Options tab, do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu and select New. To modify an item, double-click the item to open. The Lens Options window opens. In Description, enter a description for the coating. In Service Item, select the question mark symbol to search for and select a SIM code or group or a description associated with the lens style, and select OK. Note: If more than one SIM code is required for an option, assign a SIM group code to the option. To include only one SIM for the eyeglass order, select One-line Charge. To indicate whether this option is taxable, select Taxable. Add or Modify Additional Lens Charges

You can set up additional charges based on the strength of the lens prescription. Additional fees are set up for a diopter greater than a specified setting for add, cylinder, sphere, and prism. On the Additional Lens Charges tab, do one of the following: To add a new item, select the open menu button and select New. To modify an item, double-click the item to open it. The Additional Charges window opens. On Additional charges complete the fields based on your selection: In Measurement, select one of the following parts of a prescription Add Cylinder Prism Sphere In Diopter (>=), enter the lowest power for the measurement you selected. In Price Type, select either Manual or Auto. If you select Auto, the SIM Code Search window opens. Enter the SIM code that corresponds with the measurement, select it, and select OK. The Additional Price field is automatically populated based on the SIM code. In SIM Code, verify that the correct SIM code was entered after you selected a Price Type as Auto

Add or Modify a Progressive Lens Type

Progressive types vary by performance characteristics, such as stability of distance, near, and intermediate zones of vision. On the Progressive Types tab, do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu and select New. To modify an item, double-click the item to open. The Progressive Types window opens. In Description, enter a description for the type of progressive lens. In SIM Code, select the question mark symbol to search for and select a SIM code or a description associated with the progressive type, and select OK. To use this progressive lens only for VSP orders, select For use on VSP orders only. To add more detail, select Note and add your comments. To hide an item in the list, select Hide. You can associate SIMs with their corresponding NextGen® Optical Management procedures. By default, each procedure is assigned the appropriate SIM name based on the name of the CPT4 code that already exists in your database. From the Lens Maintenance master file, select the SIM Mapping tab. Note: Default SIM code for Medical Device Tax is S9999. You can create a code and assign it to the medical device tax. You can create oversize lens charges for four different lens types: Single Vision, Bifocal Vision, Trifocal Vision, and Progressive Vision. To change the SIM assigned to a procedure, select the ellipsis button corresponding to the Description row. The SIM Code Search window opens. NextGen® Optical Management Operation

Subgroup Used in Description Add/Delete Charge NextGen® Optical Management Enables users to add or delete additional SIM codes on the Billings Details window of eyeglass and contact lens orders. Delete VSP Authorization NextGen® Optical Management Enables users to delete VSP authorization for the VSP Authorization window. Order Approval NextGen® Optical Management Enables users to approve orders being forwarded to VisionWeb. Reconciliation Load to DB or Write-Off All NextGen® Optical Management Enables users to load inventory to the database and write off inventory for all of the items in the reconciliation process. You may want to limit this right to a manager. Update BAC NextGen® Optical Management Enables users to update the Buyers Actual Cost (BAC) of an item of the inventory.
