Alternate Report Path	In compliance with the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT) requirements, this preference sets the path in which Crystal Reports stored in the alternate directory are not accessible via File > Crystal Reports Main Menu option.
Custom Report Path	Sets up the path for storing custom reports.
NextGen® Optical Management Report Path	Sets up the path for storing NextGen® Optical Management reports.
Patient Report Path	Sets up the path for storing patient reports.
Report DSN	Sets up the path for storing DSN reports.

Patient Education Universal Preferences

Set the Universal Preferences for Patient Education only if you have purchased the Patient Education module. Before installing the Healthwise Patient Education module for the first time, you must set the file path in the System Administrator application. The following lists the Patient Education Universal Preferences. Preference Description Custom Patient Education Path Defines the path where uploaded custom patient education documents are created. Local Patient Education Files Defines the shared path you created or the NextGen root path where the Patient Education Installer wizard installs the files. Patient Education DSN The DSN of the external database where patient education documents are saved to an encounter are stored (if applicable). Patient Document Path Defines the path where Healthwise Patient Education documents are saved. Documents Universal Preferences

These universal preferences control the handling of documents, including archiving, caching, and import and export paths. The following lists the Documents Universal Preferences. Preference Description Archive Doc Copy Determines whether documents will be archived. To archive documents, set the preference to True. Cache File Level Note: This preference is only set by NextGen support staff. Sets how document files are handled when they are copied to the cache path during document generation and loading. Cache File Levels: 0 – Off. This level is the default. 1 – Caches all document files during generation and loading. 2 – Same as 1 but does not report errors if the cache file cannot be deleted. Convert Notes to Plain Text Setting this option to True enables users to convert Note field values to plain text in a generated document. Workflow Universal Preferences

The following lists all the Workflow Universal Preferences. Preference Description Email DSN Sets up the Data Source Name used for storage if Replication is selected. Use FTP Determines if FTP is used to store image files. If your practice uses FTP to store information, set theUse FTPvalue toTrue, and then set the following usage specifications: FTP Server– Use if data is stored on an FTP server instead of a regular server. FTP User Id– Enter the user ID used to access the FTP server. FTP Password– Enter the password used to access the FTP server. Set Up Universal Preferences

How to use System Administrator to configure preferences that are not specific to a particular practice. To access and set up Universal Preferences: Select View > Universal Preferences. The Preferences window appears. Select the preferences folder you want to configure The window displays the available preferences. In the Preference list, double-click the preference you want to set up. A window displays for the selected preference. Enter the desired value for the preference, and then select OK. There are three types of preferences: Preference Type Description Boolean Select True to enable the preference or select False to disable it. Path Enter the path that applies to the preference. You can enter the path or select the Ellipsis button to navigate for the path. Free Text Enter the alphanumeric value to use for the preference. Note: Some Universal Preferences may include FTP (File Transfer Protocol) settings. Set up FTP settings only if your practice is using FTP to store information.

Before you use the CCHIT Reports, you must setup the Alternate Report Path Universal Preference. Access System Administrator. From the Main Menu, select View > Universal Preferences.
