Bypass the Logon Process

By enabling Single or SAML Sign On, you allow users to log on once to a non-administrative application and skip logging on to subsequent non-administrative applications. If you prefer to have users always log on to all applications, disable Single and SAML Sign On. Note: If you enable Single Sign On, you must disable the setting for the password prompt that occurs when an application is restored. In System Administrator, select View > Universal Preferences > General Options > Use Single Sign On. In the Preferences window, select General Options. To skip the Logon window for the NextGen® Enterprise Products, then in the Preference list, double-click Use Single Sign On. The Use Single Sign On window appears. To allow users to skip logging on to non-administrative NextGen® Enterprise applications and some third party applications, then in the Preference list, double-click Enable SAML Signon. Using Single Sign On

Single Sign On streamlines the user logon process for multiple applications. It enables users to switch from one non-administrative application (such as NextGen® Enterprise EHR, NextGen® Enterprise PM, NextGen® Document Management, and NextGen® Optical Management to another without having to log on to each application. Note: For security purposes, user access to administrative applications should be restricted. Therefore, users must always log on to the administrative applications such as File Maintenance, System Administrator, NextGen® Background Business Processor, NextGen® Clinical Message Manager, and Report Server. When Single Sign On is in use and Patient Synchronization is enabled, an open patient record in one application automatically opens in subsequent applications. The same record displays when the user opens another application or when the user switches from one open application to another. Set NextGen® Enterprise PM to Automatically Minimize

You can set NextGen® Enterprise PM to automatically minimize when there has been no activity for a specified period of time. If the Auto Minimization Interval is set and a NextGen® Enterprise PM user has been inactive for the set period of time, the status bar displays a message warning that the application is going to minimize. Open the General Practice Preferences. Under General Options, use the arrows under Auto Minimization Interval to set the number of seconds, in 15-second increments, that any open NextGen® Enterprise application remains viewable when it is not being used. Note: The default value is zero. If the interval is set to zero, automatic minimization does not occur. If you select the Prompt for password option, the Logon window displays for password entry when the user restores NextGen® Enterprise PM. Parent topic: General Practice Preferences

Remove the Enterprise and Practice Fields

To remove the Enterprise and Practice fields from the Logon window, double-click View > Universal Preferences > General Options > Bypass Enterprise/Practice at Login in System Administrator. Set to True to enable users to log on to the NextGen® Enterprise applications without having to select an enterprise and practice. The Logon window will no longer display the Enterprise and Practice fields. Note: If a user has access to only one practice, then when the user selects the Logon button, the application opens. If a user has access to multiple practices, then when the user selects the Logon button, a window displays so they can select the appropriate enterprise and practice before the application opens. Reset Passwords

You can reset the passwords for all users in an enterprise, practice, or group to a single password. The users can then change their individual passwords after they login. Note: If you want to change the password only for a specific user, do so on the General tab of the user information. Right-click an enterprise, practice, or group, and then select Reset Passwords. The Reset Password window appears. Enter the password the entire group will use in the New Password and Confirm Password fields, and then select OK. Parent topic: Password Security Options

Customizing the Logon Window

Depending on the needs of your practice, you might prefer to customize the Logon window. This customization can change the window appearance and control the ways in which your users log on to applications. You can: Add a custom message that displays on the Logon window for all users. Remove the Enterprise and Practice fields from the display. Activate Single Sign On so users skip the Logon window for most applications. Activate LDAP integrated authentication so users can log on with their Windows credentials. See, Map a User for LDAP Integrated Authentication.
