Set Up Practice-Level Configuration for Personal Health Records

You can set up a different configuration for Continuity of Care Documents (CCD) or Personal Health Records (PHR) generated at the practice level for each practice. The default configuration files for generating CCD or PHR at the enterprise level are created in the following file location on your server.C:\NextGen\Services\AWSVPQADB02.consolidated_testing.NextGenPatientPortalCCDService\Configs\DefaultNote: The folder name in the Services folder is a combination of the system name and database name. For example, if your system name is AWSVPQADB02 and the database name is consolidated_testing, the folder name is AWSVPQADB02.consolidated_testing.NextGenPatientPortalCCDService. The Configs folder contains the Practice and Default folders. The Practice folder is empty by default and the practices under an enterprise use the settings in the Default folder. Manage NextGen Patient Portal CCD Service

You can start, restart, stop or uninstall NextGen Patient Portal CCD Service from NextGen Service Manager. Open NextGen Service Manager Console. In the Components pane, expand NextGen.Pxp.CcdaService. Select the database. NextGen.Pxp.CcdaService To start the service, select Start. To restart the service, select Restart. To stop the service, select Stop. To uninstall the service, select Uninstall. When you uninstall NextGen Patient Portal CCD Service from your database, a backup of the practice specific XML files is stored in the c:\NextGen\PracticeConfigurationBackup folder, which is configured in the CCD Service configuration file (NextGen.Pxp.CcdaService.exe.config). Note: Modifications done on the default XML files are not saved on uninstalling. NextGen Healthcare recommends that you do not modify the default XML files.

Configuring Personal Health Records at the Practice Level

When you install NextGen Patient Portal CCD Service on your server, configuration files with the default settings are created for generating PHR at the enterprise level. To create different settings for the PHR generated at the practice level, you can copy the default configuration files to a practice-specific folder and edit them. On restarting NextGen Patient Portal CCD Service, default agents are created based on the set poolsize for each type of PHR generation but only one practice-specific agent is created for each type of PHR generation. To configure parallel processing for practice-specific agents, you must set the practiceSpecificAgents XML key to true in the NextGen.Pxp.CcdaService.exe.config file. Configuring CCD Service and Agent Options

The following parameters are used to process a Continuity of Care Documents (CCD) or Personal Health Records (PHR) request. pool size: The number of CCD agents created during one pool to process the CCDs or PHRs. polling intervals: The time taken in seconds to check for new requests or retry failed requests. batchSize: The number of records fetched from the database for a single CCD request. maxAllowedProcessAttempt: The maximum number of attempts to reprocess the failed requests. You can configure the following settings in the NextGen.Pxp.CcdaService.exe.config file. polling intervals: The default value is 10. maxAllowedProcessAttempt: The default value is 5. pool size: The default value for: PxpLongitudinalCcdaRequest is 4 PxpEncounterCcdaRequest is 8 PxpManualCcdaRequest is 2 PxpDateFilterCcdaRequest is 2 PxpMsuCcdaRequest is 2. Editing XML Keys

Continuity of Care Documents (CCDs)/PHRs are generated based on the default settings of the configuration files. You can edit the configuration file to configure the generated CCD/PHR. You can edit the XML keys for the following types of agents: CCD Export - The CCD Export agent enables NextGen® Enterprise EHR users to generate a CCD from a template trigger to a specified file. CCD Locked Encounter Export - The CCD Locked Encounter Export agent exports a CCD document to a file when an encounter is locked. Note: All the XML keys have default values. You can edit the value of an XML key using the available options. Verify the Custom Practice XML

You can check the logs to verify that the practice level configurations are being used after the CCD version is updated. Note: Any new changes to XML keys in the build must be added to the custom practice XML manually. Open the location C:\NextGen\Services\AWSVPQADB02.consolidated_testing.NextGenPatientPortalCCDService. Note: The folder name in the Services folder is a combination of the system name and database name.
