Default Visit Specialties

You can set the default visit specialty for the rendering provider. You can configure the Default Visit Specialty panel on the Framework Content system template. When the rendering provider selects a default visit specialty for a patient's encounter, the same visit specialty copies forward to the next encounter. NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine includes a number of specialty-specific templates that open with a pre-defined Specialty at runtime. For example, if you select the Home Page - Allergy template from the Templates module, the application automatically displays Allergy and Immunology in the Specialty field. You can configure the same in the Framework Template Set section of the Practice Configuration practice template. My Plan Template Set Configuration

You can configure or modify the tab captions, templates, and sequence of the tabs on the My Plan template set for the chiropractic visit types in the Assessment/Plan Navigation Configuration panel on the Framework Content system template. The Assessment/Plan Navigation Configuration panel provides a run-time view of the My Plan template set based on the selected configuration. Configuring Additional Visit Information

The Additional Visit Information Config practice template provides instructions to practices to configure categories, questions, and answers for Additional Visit Information template. The data configured on the Additional Visit Information Config practice template appears in the Gynecology specialty templates. Other specialties can use this template but you need to configure a link in the sub-navigation panel for the Additional Visit Information template to be able to use it. Open the Visit Type Configuration Window

You can open the Visit Type Configuration window from the Framework Content system template. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Framework Content system template. Configuration of Default Visit Specialty

The Default Visit Specialty panel on the Framework Content system template is one of three configurable options that is used to determine the default visit specialty. Each rendering provider that you set up in File Maintenance appears in the Default Visit Specialty grid. The specialty (Specialty Code 1) mapped to the rendering provider in File Maintenance is the default specialty for the provider on the application level. The mapped specialty appears in the Default Visit Specialty grid on the Framework Content system template alongside the rendering provider name. The application determines the visit specialty when a provider first time sees a patient based on the following first qualified option: Based on provider, practice, and location in the Default Visit Specialty panel of the Framework Content system template.
