Enter an External Script
These instructions are for the first time you enter information for an external script.
- Select Manage.
The NTS Script window opens.
If this is Script 1, the referring provider’s name appears in the Ordering field, and the Address and Fax fields pull from the Providers Master File in File Maintenance, if this information is entered for the referring provider. You can edit these fields.
- If this is not script 1 (for example: script 2, 3, and so on), do the following:
- Select the number for the script in the Script # field.
- Select the Ordering field once to type in the name of the referring provider or click the field twice to select the provider from a picklist.
Note: NextGen Healthcare recommends that you select the provider from the picklist. If the provider’s name was not in the picklist, type the address and fax for that provider Address and Fax fields. - Select the For field and type in the body area or injury that the script is being written for.
- Select the Orig Order Date field, and then select the date the patient was first referred for this episode of care.
- If the referral is based on number of visits, do the following:
- Make sure the Visits option is selected.
- Select the Visits field and enter the number of visits.
- Select the Start Date field, and then select the start date from the calendar.
- If the referral is based on a time frame, do the following:
- Make sure the Date option is selected.
- Select the Start Date field, and then select the start date from the calendar.
- Select the Exp. Date field, and then select the expiration date from the calendar.
- To add a note, select the Note field and type it in.
- Select Add.
The saved script appears in the grid on the right.
- Select Close.
The window closes, and the information is shown in the script fields on the NTS Homepage template.
