Document Debridement Procedures

You can document the debridement, burn, and wound care procedures performed in the office. You can select only one type of procedure at a time in the Burns, Infected skin, and Ulcer/Wound sections. To add multiple procedures, you can document the treatment of each body area as a separate procedure and add it to the grid. When you document the details in the Ulcer/Wound section, the Wound Debridement - Total area of wound in sq.cm field displays the total area of debridement documented. For the initial 20 square centimeters of debridement documented, an entry is added to the Office Procedures grid on the Billable Visit template. For each increment of 20 square centimeters, separate entries are added to the grid. Open the IORTS Castsplint Apply template. Click Debridement in the left pane. Document Diabetic Foot Wound Care

You can document the office procedures for the wounds on toes, mid-foot, and hind-foot of diabetic patients. On the IORTS Castsplint Apply template, click Diabetic Foot in the left pane. The IORTSproc Diab Foot template opens. IORTS Diabetic Foot Procedures template Select Informed Consent if the patient was informed about the risks, benefits, and alternatives prior to the procedure. In the panel for the location of the wound, click the Side field, and select the side from the list. Note: When the side is selected, the Location and Direction fields display lists of locations and directions of the wound. Document Administered or Dispensed Medications Manually

When a medication is prescribed or ordered from Medications module or Procedure Orders template, it appears in the Medication Management grid. You can document the dispensing and administration of that medication. On the MICS Med Management template, expand the Medication Management panel. In the top grid, select the prescribed or ordered medication. The details of the medication appear in the Manage Selected Medication section. If sub-locations are turned on for the practice, select the sub-location the medication is pulled from, and select OK. Note: Sub-Location is a required field, if turned on. To add the diagnosis codes for selected medication, select diagnosis codes in the Diagnosis and Second Dx fields. Note: You can not edit the diagnosis codes that are associated with the medications in the Medications module or Office Procedures template. Document Medication Details Manually

You can manually document medication details administered through an injection procedure. Note: You can add up to four medications for an injection procedure. On the MICS Injections/Aspirations template, expand the Procedure Type panel. Select the Procedure Type as Injection. Select the sub-location, if turned on. Enter the procedure information. From the Source field, select the source of medication. The MLTS Dbpl Medication Name picklist opens. Select the medication being administered in the Medication field. The MLTS Dbpl Med Ndc Lot Inj picklist opens. Select the lot number for the medication in the Lot Number field. The system runs a DUR Check for the medication. If the system cannot complete the DUR Check, a message appears and a note is added to the bottom of the template notifying you that a manual DUR Check should be completed. The Quantity keypad opens. Document Laceration Repair Procedures

You can document the laceration repair procedures that are performed in the office. On the Home template, click the Forms link, select Lacerations on the Navigation window, and click OK. The Laceration Repair - Procedure template opens. Laceration Repair - Procedure template Select Obtain patient consent, if consent was obtained prior to the procedure. In the Procedure section, select Laceration prepped and draped using sterile technique, if applicable. To document the physical exams for skin and hair, click the PE Skin link. Select the length of the laceration for the Simple or Intermediate classification. The Indication, Code, and Status fields are displayed in the Procedure section, and the diagnosis search window opens. You can enter the source, lot number, unit type, expiration date, and J-Code of a medication by scanning the barcode. On the MICS Med Management template, expand the Medication Management panel.
