Customize Ophthalmology Physical Exam Picklists

Before you begin Providers must be setup in the Provider Specialty section grid as General Ophthalmologists in order to use this functionality. Access the Picklist Configuration - OPH template. In the Template pick lists section click the Pick list field and select a value from the list. Select Show. If the Picklist contains values, the picklist findings and their status, active or inactive, appear in the grid on the Source side. Copy Available Picklist Items to a New Picklist

Before you begin Providers must be setup in the Provider Specialty section grid as General for the Oph sub specialty in order to use this functionality. Providers designated as General Ophthalmologist in the Provider Specialty grid can customize commonly used picklists. You can use an existing provider picklist and make changes to create a custom physical exam picklist. Fields with an asterisk are required fields. In the Source section of the Picklist Configuration – OPH template, you can select an existing provider picklist to view available picklist items or to use as a starting point for a new customized picklist for a physical exam element by copying picklists or individual picklist values from Source to Destination. Access the Picklist Configuration - OPH template. In the Source side, in the Provider pick lists section, click the Visit Type* field and select a value from the list. Picklist Configuration for Ophthalmic Providers and Visit Types

You can configure picklists for external, slit lamp, and posterior physical exam findings by provider and visit type in the Picklist Configuration section of the Eye Configuration practice template. You can also setup customized default picklists. The ability to customize external, slit lamp, and posterior physical exam picklists supports the preferences of individual providers in the NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite. Configuring customized physical exam picklists by a provider is optional. In runtime, if a customized picklist has not been defined for a provider and visit type, the default picklist is used. If there is no default picklist, then the existing picklist packaged with the system is used. If you want to add new or modified tests to the Ophthalmology diagnostic tests data set that require new test categories, you must first add any new test categories to the oph_dx_setup_category custom DB picklist. Copy Last Exam

The Copy Last Exam setting is found on the Ophthalmology Provider Specialty practice template which opens from the Providers data grid on the Eye Configuration practice template. When setting up an Ophthalmology provider, selecting the use copy last exam forward check box configures the system to pull information from the last exam forward to the current exam. On Ophthalmology exam templates in run-time, a separate Copy last exam check box is available for each eye and each part of the exam (such as external, slit lamp, and posterior) when this setting is selected for a provider. Note: In this version of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, Copy Last Exam pulls forward information from the last time the exam templates were opened to the current exam. Exam templates include: Brief Examination (eyeBriefExam), External Examination (eyeExternalExam), Slit Lamp Examination (eyeSlitExam), and Provider - OPH (oph_provider).
