Searching a Medication

You can perform extended searches for medications using the medication search field on the New Rx view. If you have set up the ePCS permissions, the search results display the controlled substances (CS) medication in red with the respective Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) class codes: c1,c2,c3,c4, and c5. For NextGen Healthcare clinics and providers with appropriate permission, you can perform a formulary search to display a list of medications with one of the following formulary eligibility icon. - Preferred - This drug is preferred over all other drugs under the same therapeutic category. - On Formulary - This drug is authorized for reimbursement for the payer. - Unknown - The selected payer does not provide information for the medication under the selected formulary. - Non-Formulary - Specified by the payer as not on the formulary or is on the formulary at a higher co-pay level. This may or may not be reimbursable. - Not Reimbursed - The payer does not pay for this drug. The p

Select a Medication

You can select a medication from the list displaying medication search results. Open NextGen® Mobile. Select a patient and open the New Rx view. New medication view To search medications for a patient using formulary or non-formulary medication search, do one of the following: In Search Medications, enter the medication name or enter at least three characters and perform a medication search. For formulary search enabled providers, select the Search Medications list and select a formulary search criteria. Complete the Prescription Details

When you prescribe medication for a patient, you can perform the following tasks on the RxDetails view. Calculate the quantity of medication needed based on the start date, stop date, and the Sig. The duration of the medication is calculated automatically. Calculate the stop date based on the quantity, start date, and the Sig. Note: If you select a medication from a medication favorite group, the fields on RxDetails are filled with the corresponding values defined for the group in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If needed, you can edit the fields for your patient on the RxDetails view. Open NextGen® Mobile. Select a medication for the patient. The RxDetails view opens. To change the dosage, do the following: Select the medication name and dosage. The Select Medicine view displays the list of available dosages. Select the desired dosage. The new dosage appears on the RxDetails view. In Quantity, select the field and enter the amount, or select Calculate. Note: On selecting Calculate, NextGen®

Create and Edit Your Favorite Medication Groups

You can create a medication group with the necessary medications and do the following on existing favorite groups: Create a duplicate medication with different sig details Edit the selected medications sig information Add the selected medication to another group Delete the selected medication from the group Open NextGen® Mobile. Open the Patient Chart view for your patient. Select Today's Visit. Note: You must select an unlocked encounter or create an encounter. In NextGen® Mobile, the Medications module is available for NextGen® Enterprise EHR 6.2021.1 and later versions. Select the open icon or View All next to Medications (Rx). In Medications, the patient's active medications appear. Note: The Prescribe New Rx option is available for default provider active encounters. Patient Medication Trigger Overview

If you are using the Patient Medication trigger to prescribe a new medication to the selected patient, the trigger supports both the NDC ID and the Med ID. Contact your system administrator regarding the specific setup of your templates. The Patient Medication Renew trigger now displays a SIG dispensable message for a medication with weight-based dosing for a pediatric patient. The message requires you to confirm if you want to use the new dispensable SIG or the original SIG. To use the Patient Medication Education or External Reference trigger in NextGen® Enterprise EHR: You can enter the External Drug Reference Site URL under Medications preferences.
