Manage Billing for Specialties

You can add, update, and delete billing configurations for various specialties. Open the MICS Medication & Billing system template. To add a billing configuration for a specialty, do the following in the section above the Medication Information Configuration panel. Select the field appearing below the Specialty column, select the specialty to be configured, and then select OK. Select the location where the submitted charges need to be sent. Select Add. The billing configuration is added to the specialty grid. To update a billing configuration for a specialty, do the following in the section above the Medication Information Configuration panel. Select the specialty that needs to be edited from the grid. Make the desired changes. Select Update. The changes are updated to the specialty grid. To delete a billing configuration for a specialty, do the following in the section above the Medication Information Configuration panel. Select the specialty that needs to be deleted from the grid. Medication Billing Rules Panel

The Medication Billing Rules panel enables you to configure billing rules for medications. Use the Medication Billing Rules panel to set up: Standard or special billing rules, including financial class-specific or payer-specific billing rules Payers that do not bill for a medication Financial classes and/or specific payers that do not allow combining medications for billing purposes. For all of these actions, rules that have been set up for one medication, financial class, or payer can be copied to another, to save setup time. Note: The Billing Rules grid only applies to medication administered from the MICS Dispensing and MICS Injections/Aspirations templates. You can add, update, and deactivate Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes that are excluded from billing. On the MICS Medication & Billing template, expand the Radiology Billing Rules panel. Note: By default, the Active option is selected above the grids in the Radiology Billing Rules panel. To exclude CPT codes from billing, do the following in the Excluded from Billing section. Select the field appearing below the Type column, and select the placement confirmation type from the list. In the field appearing below the Excluded Code column, enter the CPT code to be excluded from billing. Select Add. The placement confirmation type and CPT code are added to the active codes grid. To update billing configurations for CPT codes, do the following in the Excluded from Billing section. Select the CPT code that needs to be edited from the grid. Make the desired changes. Note: By default, the Active option is selected above the grids in the Radiology Billing Rules panel. To configure conversion of placement confirmation codes for billing, do the following in the Placement Confirmation Code Conversions section. Select the field appearing below the Type column, and select the placement confirmation type from the list. In the field appearing below the Orig. Code column, enter the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code of the placement confirmation type. In the field appearing below the Billed Code column, enter the CPT code that needs to be billed. Select Add. The configuration of the placement confirmation code conversion is added to the active codes grid. Configuring Medication Information and Billing Rules

You can configure billing information for medications dispensed or administered and radiology tests done in your practice. You can do the following configurations on the Medication & Billing Configuration system template: Configure where the submitted charges need to be sent for each specialty. Configure the user groups for dispensing or administering on the fly medications. Configure medications as billable or non-billable in the Medication Information Configuration panel. Configure billing rules for medications as per financial class and payers in the Medication Billing Rules panel. Configure billing rules for radiology tests in the Radiology Billing Rules panel.
