Set up Launch Template Trigger

The Launch Template action saves and closes the current template and then launches another template for either the current encounter or another specified encounter. You can keep the original template open when the new template is launched. This trigger can be used on Sidebar templates in addition to other template types. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup. Select the Launch Template action. The Launch Template window opens. To select the template, field, or variable you want to use to launch the template, select Fields, Templates, or Variables, and then select the applicable item from the list that appears. To use the original NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, select the Ignore Alias check box. Note: This functionality is available only if the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine have been locked down. Using NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine

NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine features standard problem, diagnosis, condition, allergy, medication, and symptom lists for all specialties. Specifically designed sets of templates are available for many specialties, including Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Orthopedics. To maintain structural integrity and proper navigation, all templates are locked down to prevent user-defined modifications effective with NextGen 5.4.29 or later. You can do the following: Copy a locked-down template. Note: You can copy an Extended Popup template as an Extended Popup View only. You are limited to creating new triggers on fields. You cannot modify existing fields, add new fields, or copy and paste a field to the copied template. Save a locked-down under a different name and update all applicable template links to the new user-defined template. Display the locked-down with a different name at run time. Template Preference Properties

The Use Alias option is available only on user-defined copies of an existing NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. It enables you to switch the reference of all relevant template triggers between the original NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine and the user-defined copy of the original NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. By default, a new user-defined copy of a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine is set to have all relevant template triggers point to it. You can clear the Use Alias preference to point all triggers to the original NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. You can enable a preference to attach a Sidebar template to another template. You can select the side of the template on which to display the sidebar and you can turn the Auto Hide Sidebar option. This functionality is available only if the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine have been locked down. Open the Template Properties window. Select the Preferences tab. To add or remove a check mark, in the Alias section, select the Use Alias check

Create a Trigger Script

You can create trigger scripts. On the main toolbar, select the Trigger Functions icon. The Trigger Scripts window opens. Select the ellipsis button next to the Trigger Script list. The Script Creation window opens. In Script Name, enter your name. In Parameters, enter your parameter, select Ref and Value from the list, and then select Add. Note: Parameter name must not start with a number or use an existing name. To clear parameter, select the parameter, and then select Clear. To update parameter, select the parameter, and then select Update. To delete parameter, select the parameter, and then select Delete. In the Template Type Association list, select the type of template. In the Comments box, enter your comments for the script. Select Add. The script is added in the Script Creation grid. A trigger script name must be unique. The added script takes the prefix as NextGen Adaptive Content Engine if application is launched through NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine Admin mode, else USR f

Update a Sub-navigation Link on a Template

You can update or delete existing links on templates. On the Specialty Nav Config template, expand the Sub Bar Navigation panel. In the grid, select the template to display the configured links. To change a template or database picklist, select the Link field, select a new item, and then select Add/Update. To update the display name of a link, edit the name in the applicable Display field, and then select Add/Update. To change the order of a link, select the new position number in the corresponding Position field, and then select Add/Update. Note: Positions 9-16 are only available for the IORTShomepage_v2 template. The link position updates, and the positions of the remaining links automatically adjust.
