Update Template Links

The Update Template Links option enables you to update all template triggers and navigation links to reference a new user-defined template in place of the original NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Note: This functionality is available only if the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine have been locked down (User Mode). You can also update template links through the Use Alias option. From the Menu bar, select Tools, and then Update Template Links. The Update Template Links window opens. From the Template Type list, select the applicable type. From the Original list, select the template which is currently referenced by all of the existing triggers. From the New list, select the user-defined template that must now be referenced by the triggers. Select Update. A message box appears when the template link is updated. To dismiss the message box, select OK. To restore the referencing to the original NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, select that template from the Original list, and leave the New li

Set up Launch Template Trigger

The Launch Template action saves and closes the current template and then launches another template for either the current encounter or another specified encounter. You can keep the original template open when the new template is launched. This trigger can be used on Sidebar templates in addition to other template types. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup. Select the Launch Template action. The Launch Template window opens. To select the template, field, or variable you want to use to launch the template, select Fields, Templates, or Variables, and then select the applicable item from the list that appears. To use the original NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, select the Ignore Alias check box. Note: This functionality is available only if the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine have been locked down. Using NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine

NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine features standard problem, diagnosis, condition, allergy, medication, and symptom lists for all specialties. Specifically designed sets of templates are available for many specialties, including Obstetrics/Gynecology, Pediatrics, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, and Orthopedics. To maintain structural integrity and proper navigation, all templates are locked down to prevent user-defined modifications effective with NextGen 5.4.29 or later. You can do the following: Copy a locked-down template. Note: You can copy an Extended Popup template as an Extended Popup View only. You are limited to creating new triggers on fields. You cannot modify existing fields, add new fields, or copy and paste a field to the copied template. Save a locked-down under a different name and update all applicable template links to the new user-defined template. Display the locked-down with a different name at run time. Set Up Template Preference Properties

The Use Alias option is available only on user-defined copies of an existing NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. You can clear the Use Alias preference to point all triggers to the original NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. You can turn on a preference to attach a sidebar template to another template. You can select the location of the sidebar in the template, and you can turn on the Auto Hide the Sidebar option. This functionality is available only if the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine is locked down. Open Template Editor. Open template sub template, template snippet, or popup template, and then do one of the following: Double-click anywhere outside a field on the template. Modify Links

You can update or delete the existing links as per your requirement. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Framework Content system template. Select a Specialty and Practice. Under the Tabs section, select a Template and Visit Type. Associated links are updated in the Sub Navigation section. In the Sub Navigation grid, select a row. The Caption and Template fields are updated based on the selected tab. To update or remove a link, do one of the following as applicable: To update a link, make the necessary changes in the Caption and Template fields, and select Update. To remove a link, select Delete. Note: You can view a confirmation message appears to confirm if you want to delete all the sub-navigational links for the selected tab.
