Remove a Variable

You can remove a variable from the System, Patient, Template or Encounter template's list if not needed. Access the Setup Variables window. Select the System, Patient, Template, or Encounter, which contains the variable you want to remove. A list containing the variable, opens. Select the variable you want to remove, from the list. Set Up Variables

You can add, update, or remove the variables. You can use the Script It button in the Setup Variables window to create the code snippet for the selected variable. In the Trigger Scripts, you can copy the code snippet to the clipboard and paste into a trigger script. To open the Setup Variables window, do one of the following: On the Main toolbar, select Variables. In the Trigger Info or Assign Field Value window, right-click a variable in the Variables list, and then select Setup Variables. Right-click anywhere on the body of a template and then select Variables from the shortcut menu. The Setup Variable window opens, with four color-coded tabs that list existing System (pink), Patient (green), Template (blue), and Encounter (purple) variables. From the Scope list, select System, Patient, Template, or Encounter. Note: To create a Template variable, you must open an existing template before opening the Setup Variables window. Otherwise, the Template option does not appear in Scope list.

Setting Up System, Patient, Template, and Encounter Variables

You can set up variables to hold temporary information about System, Patient, Template, and Encounter which will eliminate the need to create database fields at run time. System, Patient, Template, and Encounter Variables Variables hold the temporary information for System, Patient, Template, and Encounter variable values. Set Up Variables You can set up the variables for temporarily storing information. Update a Variable You can update the value of a variable. Modify Templates

You can modify the data saved to a template if it is not attached to a locked encounter. If the encounter is locked, you can create a new custom encounter, and attach the same template to it to update the information. On the Encounter History tab, select the encounter that contains the template you want to update and select the button. Select the template to open it. Enter the required modifications. Note: If you are working with a Group Medical Records template, any modifications you enter and save are committed to all of the charts for patients who are members of the specific patient group. Show Watch Window

The Watch window helps template developers to debug their templates. You can view the value of fields and variables located on the template that may or may not be visible on the template. Select a patient. Open the applicable template. Right-click on the template, and then select Show Watch Window. Note: This command is not available on the right-click menu for a pop-up template. The Watch Window opens. In the Fields filter, select the required fields, and then select Search. The fields appear in the Fields grid. Note: The filters are available for the following fields: Active Text Check box Edit Radio In the Variables filter, select the required fields, and then select Search. The fields appear in the Fields grid. In the Immediate field, enter your criteria, and then select Execute. The result appears in the Result field. Select OK. Parent topic: Using Templates

Update Picklist Value

On the Picklist Configuration practice template, expand the Template Picklists panel. From the Templates grid, select the desired template. The Picklists grid displays all picklists currently on the selected template. Template Picklists panel on the Picklist Configuration template Select the desired picklist. The Values grid displays all values currently in the selected picklist. Select the value to be updated. The value name enters the field below the Values grid. Update the value and click Update.
