Update a Variable

You can update the value of the variables added for the templates. Open the Setup Variables window. Select System, Patient, Template or Encounter. A list containing the variable, opens. Select the variable from the list you want to update. Select Update to save the changes. The updated variables appear in the selected template's list. Set Up Variables

You can add, update, or remove the variables. You can use the Script It button in the Setup Variables window to create the code snippet for the selected variable. In the Trigger Scripts, you can copy the code snippet to the clipboard and paste into a trigger script. To open the Setup Variables window, do one of the following: On the Main toolbar, select Variables. In the Trigger Info or Assign Field Value window, right-click a variable in the Variables list, and then select Setup Variables. Right-click anywhere on the body of a template and then select Variables from the shortcut menu. The Setup Variable window opens, with four color-coded tabs that list existing System (pink), Patient (green), Template (blue), and Encounter (purple) variables. From the Scope list, select System, Patient, Template, or Encounter. Note: To create a Template variable, you must open an existing template before opening the Setup Variables window. Otherwise, the Template option does not appear in Scope list.

You can set up variables to hold temporary information about System, Patient, Template, and Encounter which will eliminate the need to create database fields at run time. System, Patient, Template, and Encounter Variables Variables hold the temporary information for System, Patient, Template, and Encounter variable values. Set Up Variables You can set up the variables for temporarily storing information. Update a Variable You can update the value of a variable. Show Watch Window

The Watch window helps template developers to debug their templates. You can view the value of fields and variables located on the template that may or may not be visible on the template. Select a patient. Open the applicable template. Right-click on the template, and then select Show Watch Window. Note: This command is not available on the right-click menu for a pop-up template. The Watch Window opens. In the Fields filter, select the required fields, and then select Search. The fields appear in the Fields grid. Note: The filters are available for the following fields: Active Text Check box Edit Radio In the Variables filter, select the required fields, and then select Search. The fields appear in the Fields grid. In the Immediate field, enter your criteria, and then select Execute. The result appears in the Result field. Select OK. Parent topic: Using Templates

Delete a Diagnosis

You can delete a diagnosis that was added on an encounter. Before you begin Make sure that the applicable template with the Diagnosis grid is open. In the Diagnosis grid, select the diagnosis. Diagnosis grid Click Remove. Note: If you are not on the encounter where the diagnosis was added, a message appears stating that the diagnosis can be removed only from the encounter where it was added. The Reason window opens. Remove Payers from an Encounter to be Deleted

Access the Patient Chart. Select the Encounters tab, and then the General sub-tab. From the Encounters list, select the encounter to be deleted. Select the Insurance sub-tab. In the Encounter Insurance section, select a payer to be removed. Right-click and select Delete from the menu. A prompt appears asking to confirm the removal of encounter insurance. To remove the payer, select OK. One of the following occurs: If the payer is not associated with charges or claims, it is removed from the encounter. If the payer is associated with charges, the following prompt appears stating that there is a dollar amount in balance control bucket [n] and that the balance control must be updated before this payer can be deleted. If the payer is associated with claims, then a prompt appears asking if you are sure about removing insurance as the insurance is still attached to claims. Repeat from step 5 to step-7 for additional insurances to be removed. Parent topic: Delete Encounters
