Patient Modes

The following types of patient modes are available: One patient mode enable patients to fill out a particular template (see Turn on Patient Mode for Template Entry) with no access to the remaining functionality. This patient mode provides a full-screen template view similar to Full Screen mode, but locks down the application. The other two patient modes are part of an optional feature that NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers to comply with the specific guidelines provided by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT). Edit and Review modes enable you to handle patient charts in a more efficient way and create a more secure and easily sustainable environment for patients' medical data. This feature is enabled by the Enable CCHIT check box on the NextGen System Info window in the System Administrator application. Enterprise Chart

Enterprise Chart is an optional feature that enables all practices within an enterprise to share clinical data. Enterprise providers can view a patient's chart in multiple practices at the same time. Preferences and permissions can be set at the system and user level to view the clinical tasks and the Provider Approval Queue in the Workflow module across practices in the enterprise. Enterprise Chart is enabled in Enterprise Preferences in File Maintenance. CAUTION: Enterprise Chart cannot be turned off after it is enabled. If a specific practice should not share enterprise clinical data, you can set that practice up as a separate enterprise. Managing Enterprise Cases

You can normally view and modify a patient's case only within the practice it was created in. However, you can activate an enterprise-level preference that makes the case available to all practices within the same enterprise. It affects the applications in the following ways: Users in any of the practices in the enterprise can view and modify the case information and attach encounters from the current practice. Even though the cases are enterprise-wide, the encounters are not. The encounters that you can attach are limited to only the encounters within the practice. For example, if you log in to practice A, you cannot attach or detach encounters that belong to practice B. When a case is opened on the Case Management window, the encounters that were attached in other practices display in a list that cannot be modified. Enterprise Chart Patients

If a patient is enrolled in Enterprise Chart, you can view the patient's clinical data across all practices within your enterprise. To view patient data in Enterprise Chart, patients must be enrolled in it. When you enable Enterprise Chart, all existing patients are automatically enrolled. You also have the option to enroll all new patients by default going forward. If you do not select this option when you enable Enterprise Chart, you can later enroll patients individually. If you need to enroll all patients at one time after Enterprise Chart is on, contact NextGen Healthcare Client Support for assistance.
