Copy a Field With Triggers as a Local Field

You can copy a native or shared field with or without triggers to use it as a local field for temporary work on a template. A local field is not saved to the database. Note: You can copy only check box, data entry (edit), or radio button fields as local fields. To display copy options, right-click the field, and then select Copy Field with Triggers. Select CTRL+L. The window for inserting the selected field type appears. For example, if you select a radio button field, the Insert Radio Button window opens. Note: The Table name is automatically set to local. If you are copying a radio button field, enter a new name or select an existing name for the radio button in the Field box and the field value in the Value box. Retain the copied field properties or modify any of them as needed. Select OK. The field appears in front of the copied field on the template. The Paste Triggers window opens. The Find box contains the name of the field being copied, and the Replace With box contains the nam

You can copy existing local fields the same way you do other fields. To create a local field from a copied field, see Copy a Field as a Local Field. Do one of the following: To display copy options, right-click the field, and then select Copy Field. In the template, right-click where you want to place the copied field, and select Paste Field. Select the field, and then select CTRL+C. In the template, select where you want to place the copied field, and select CTRL+V. The window for inserting the selected field type appears. For example, if you select a data entry field, the Insert Data Entry window opens. Note: You cannot change the Table name. Copy Fields within the Same Template

You can copy and paste active text, check box, edit (data entry), or radio button fields with or without triggers within the same template only. The fields can be native to the template or shared from another template. When you right-click a field or in the template body, a menu displays the available copy and paste options: Copy Field. Copies the field only. Copy Field with Triggers. Copies the field and its triggers. Paste Field. Pastes the field if you selected Copy Field. Pastes the field and its triggers if you selected Copy Field with Triggers. Alternatively, you can use keyboard commands to copy a selected field and any associated triggers to a new field on the same template. You can copy and paste existing local template fields the same way you do other fields. You can also copy a field with or without triggers as a local field using a keyboard command. Local Template Fields

On a template, you can temporarily set up the following types of fields as local fields that are not saved to the database: Data entry (edit) Check box Radio button You can set up triggers for local template fields as you do for non-local fields. Note: The Template Editor in NextGen® Enterprise EHR Admin mode enables you to reconfigure text fields to support default actions. The length of the text field types defaults to 1 instead of 0 for text box, check box, and radio button fields. You can select local from the Table list on the Insert window for each of these fields. Create Additional Triggers for the Same Field

You can quickly add certain triggers based on existing triggers to the same field and then edit them. This functionality can save time when you have to make changes to a trigger with multiple mappings, such as the Upload Extended Data trigger. Right-click the template field that you want to copy triggers from, and select Triggers from the shortcut menu. The Triggers window opens. Select the trigger you want to copy. Information entered for the selected trigger, appears in the Trigger, Condition, Parameter, and Comment boxes. Select Copy. Select Paste. The Paste Triggers window opens. The Find and Replace With boxes both contain the name of the same field. To copy the Condition and/or Parameters for the field triggers, select the applicable check box. Condition is selected by default. To copy disabled triggers, select the Copy Disabled check box. This option is checked by default. Select OK. The selected triggers are copied.
