Actions

The following table lists actions that can be triggered by a field event and their results. Action availability is based on the template type and event.

Action	Results
Add New Task	The Add New Task window opens.
Alert	A user-defined message appears.
APSO View	Refreshes or saves APSO documents to the current encounter of the patient chart.
Assign Field Value	Assigns a specific value to a predefined field or to a variable.
Assign Note Value	Assigns a specific value to a predefined note or to a field.
Change Field Color	Changes a predefined color of a label or text in an edit field.
Change Field Style	A change is made to a predefined style of the selected field.
Clear	Clears edit fields on the template. A window asking for user confirmation can be set up for display in every instance or selectively at runtime.
Click	Actions set up for the click event on the selected field are triggered.
Create New Encounter	Returns a new encounter ID for back-ordered items that need to be billed separately.
DB PickList	Displays a list of values from a database table for user selection. The selected value fills the designated field.
Disable Control	Disables the selected template field at runtime.
Edit Data Grid	One of the following actions can result for a Medical Records (MR), Case Management (CM), Demographics (DM), Summary, System, or Practice data grid. A blank Extended Popup template opens to enter a new record. The record in the selected row is deleted. The record for the selected row displays in the Extended Popup template. A window displays for sorting the columns displayed in the data grid at runtime.
Enable Control	Enables the selected template field at runtime.
Export Audio	Exports the audio file in the note field.
Fax Note	Faxes the specified note field.
Fax Report	Faxes the selected report.
Generate CCD	Generates a Continuity-of-Care Document (CCD) for a patient for all encounters or a selected encounter.
Get Equipment Data	Enables the use of the optical interface.
Get Template Notification Data	Stores and/or displays data sent from a component at runtime. For more information, see the Template Notify event.
Goto Field	Cursor is automatically placed in a predefined field.
Goto Module	Launches a preselected NextGen® Enterprise EHR module.
Grid Row Select	The Grid Row Select window opens which provides the ability to manage the selected row for grids.
Hide Item	Hides a predefined field.
ICD SNOMED Map	ICD and SNOMED® codes are mapped to each other.
Launch Application	Launches a preselected application.
Launch Document	Launches a NextGen® Enterprise EHR document.
Launch External Application	Launches the associated external application.
Launch Image	Launches a preselected image.
Launch Template	Displays the current saved template and a predefined template.
Lookup External ID	Displays a patient's ID from an external system in a predefined field.
Medical Necessity	Checks a specific ICD-9 code diagnosis against the list of available CPT®4 procedure codes that are compensated by the health coverage of the patient.
Modify Patient	Displays the Update Patient Information window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR for editing patient demographics and other information.
Open Chart	Opens a preselected Patient Chart.
Patient Allergy	Assigns a selected allergy to the patient's Allergy List.
Patient Appointments	Launches the Workflow module. A new appointment window automatically displays.
Patient Diagnosis	Assigns the diagnosis to the patient's ICD Billing List.
Patient Education	Launches the Patient Education module. Note that the Patient Education module is available as a separate purchase.
Patient Implantable Device	The Patient Implantable Device trigger maps the template field values of the implantable device with the Implantable Device module.
Patient Item	Launches one of the following types of patient chart documents or images by their ID. Email Document Management (ICS) image Image Patient Education topic Report
Patient Lab Order	Creates a new lab or radiology order in the Orders module based on the parameters set in the trigger. The order is sent to the lab or radiology unit that performs the tests.
Patient Medication	Triggers the Medication module functionality (prescribe, delete, check dosing/interactions, print patient education, print/fax/renew/electronically send prescription) for a specific predefined medication for the selected patient.
Patient Portal	Displays windows allowing you to send a NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment invitation to a patient or schedule NextGen® PxP Portal messges.
Patient Problem	Assigns the problem to the patient's SNOMED® Problem List. Problems can also be tracked.
Patient Procedure	The selected procedure is automatically added to the patient's Procedure List.
PickList	Displays a list of items for user selection. The selection made populates the selected field.
Pop-Up	Displays a pop-up window such as Number Pad or Calendar.
Print Graph	Automatically prints a specific graph field.
Print Note	Automatically prints a specific note field.
Print Report	Automatically prints a specific report.
Radiology CDS	The CDS window displays, allowing you to enter your input and output details.
Refresh Data Grid	Refreshes the information in the pre-selected Data Sheet fields.
Refresh Encounter UI	Refreshes NextGen® Enterprise EHR encounter history automatically.
Refresh Sidebar	Reloads the sidebar content.
Refresh Template	Refreshes the display of the template structure and/or data at runtime.
Region Highlight	Highlights the preselected region of an active image.
Reports	Generates or displays a preselected report.
Save & Close Template	Saves and closes the template automatically.
Save Template	Saves the template automatically. This action is used with the Launch Document action when template data needs to be displayed on the launched document.
Send Email	Launches the Workflow module. A new email window is automatically displayed.
Send Equipment Data	Enables the use of the optical interface.
Service Item Lookup	Returns a list of service items and associated prices from the Service Item Master (SIM) library.
Set Default Values	Default values are set within the edit fields.
Show Item	Displays a hidden field.
Stored Procedure	The Stored Procedure trigger is based on custom-designed stored procedures. A specific stored procedure retrieves a Continuity-of-Care (CCD) document from a NextGen Health Information Exchange.
System Password	Returns the user's ID and password automatically from an external system.
Template Pop-Up	Launches a predefined Medical Records pop-up template.
Toggle History	Turns the display of the Main toolbar on and off.
Toggle Panel	Turns on the display of collapsible panels on a template.
Toggle Sidebar	Turns the display of the navigation sidebar on or off from its current state.
Trigger Script	Displays the Trigger Script window which enables you to define the trigger scripts.
Upload Extended Data	Data from predefined fields is sent to an extended pop-up template.
View Category	Automatically activates the view category mode.
View Search Mode	Automatically activates the View Search mode .
Web Navigate	Allows users to browse within the Web Browser field.
Web Xchange	Enables the exchange of data between the Web Browser field and any predefined template fields.
