Set up Patient Item Trigger

The Patient Item action launches an existing patient chart document or image by its ID for quick viewing without searching the patient's encounter tree. The item can be under any locked or open encounter on the patient's chart. You can launch the following types of patient items: Document Email Document Management (ICS) image Image Patient Education topic Report To use the Patient Item trigger, set up another trigger to assign the specific patient encounter item ID to a template variable or field. For example, you can create a patient document ID variable and a Summary Sheet that displays patient document information. You can then assign the item ID from a Row Selected event/Assign Field Value trigger on the Summary Sheet to the patient document ID variable. You can place the Patient Item trigger on a Medical Records (MR) template, Group MR template or a Sidebar template. Create New Encounter Trigger

The Create New Encounter action creates a clinical encounter for items/charges not yet received that need to be tracked and billed separately. This trigger returns an encounter ID to a designated field or variable on your template. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup. To open the Create New Encounter window, select the Create New Encounter action. Note: You must complete both fields to turn on the OK button. From the Encounter Date list, select the applicable field or variable: Template field for date input. @EncDate, which is assigned from the template field. @Today for today's date. @Current Encounter for the current encounter's date. Note: You can assign a date to the encounter using the current date or a date in the past. You cannot assign a future date to the encounter. You can execute a predefined Patient Item trigger on a Medical Records (MR), Group MR or Sidebar template to quickly open an existing patient chart document or image without searching the patient's encounter tree. The item can be under any locked or open encounter on the patient's chart. You can launch the following types of patient items: Document Email Document Management image Image Patient Education topic Report If you open a patient item under a locked encounter, you cannot make any changes to the patient item. You can change a patient item under an unlocked encounter, and save the changes to that encounter. If the Enterprise Chart option is selected for the patient, you can execute the Patient Item trigger for the same patient, encounter, and item in another practice of an enterprise. Launch Patient Education Topics from a Template

Before you begin You must have your own provider license to use the Healthwise Patient Education Module. To obtain a license, contact your NextGen Sales Representative or NextGen Client Support. For more information on using the Patient Education module, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Healthwise Patient Education Integration Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can display a preselected or context-sensitive patient education topic depending on the Patient Education trigger setup. Context sensitivity is based on the CPT or ICD-9 code, terms, or title and language selected during the encounter. To display a patient education topic related to a particular CPT or ICD-9 code, a procedure or diagnosis must be saved to the encounter. After you display a patient education topic, you can save it to the encounter. The topic remains viewable when the encounter is locked. Set Up a Patient Implantable Device Trigger

You can set up a Patient Implantable Device trigger in Template Editor to map the patient's implantable device information between a template and the Implantable Device module. Open Template Editor. Open a template. Set up a general trigger. From the Action list, select Patient Implantable Device. The Implantable Device window opens. Select the information for the available fields. Select OK. Template Editor saves the trigger information and closes the Implantable Device window. Note: If necessary, set up a specific condition for the Patient Implantable Device action which you want to trigger. Select OK to save the template.
