Privacy Consent
Consent status can be configured on up to three different levels: An enterprise policy applies to the combination of a single enterprise and a single external system. This policy provides the consent default for all patients of that enterprise when their data is being shared with that external system. Each enterprise policy can include practice overrides that establish a different consent default for a given practice. Each patient can optionally have a patient override that takes precedence over both the enterprise consent default and the practice default. Note: The practice default takes precedence over the enterprise default, and the patient override takes precedence over both enterprise and practice defaults. WhenEnterprise Chartis enabled for the enterprise, and the patient is configured as an enterprise patient, any practice overrides are ignored. If there is a patient override, that determines the patient consent. If there is no patient override, the enterprise consent default is

Access a Patient's Consent
Select or add a patient. Open the Privacy Consent window: In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, do one of the following: Select Privacy Consent from the File menu. Select the Privacy Consent link in the Patient Demographics template. Select the Privacy Consent button in the Privacy tab of the Add/Modify Patient Information window. In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select the Privacy Consent button in the Privacy tab of the Add/Modify Patient Information window. The Privacy Consent window opens. The left pane of the window displays any external system icons. If a message appears, stating that the patient's chart is protected from sharing data in one or more practices, then choose one of the following responses: To enable Enterprise Chart, and set and save the enterprise-level consent policy to Do Not Share in the patient's chart, select Yes. Add or Modify Information about Privacy Notices for Patients in NextGen® Enterprise PM
Open the Person Information or Patient Information window for the desired person or patient. Select the Privacy tab. Enter the dates when the patient received, signed, and returned the privacy notice. Select a reason or status for the privacy notice. Note: The items you can select are obtained from the Privacy Notices master list in File Maintenance. Enter information in Privacy Notice Notes and Privacy Consent as needed. Select OK.If privacy information is added for a patient without a chart, a message appears reminding you that the data in the Privacy tab is not saved unless you create a chart. In the confirmation message, do one of the following: To save information entered, including Privacy tab information, and create a chart for the patient, select Yes. To save information entered, except Privacy tab information, without creating a chart for the patient, select No. To return to the Patient Information window, select Cancel. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. Open Medications module. Do one of the following: Select Medication History. From the Main menu, select Tools > Medication History Consent. The Medication History Consent window opens.
