Enable Advanced Service Item Library Mode

When you Enable Advanced Service Item Library Mode it turns on all enterprise-wide features that allow you to set prices by configuring locations into payer-centric groupings. CAUTION: Once you select the Enable Advanced Service Item Library Mode check box, you cannot disable it. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Enterprises. The Enterprises List window opens. Double-click an enterprise in the list. The Modify Enterprise Information window opens. Select Preferences. The Enterprise Preferences window opens. Select the Libraries tab, and then select Enable Advanced Service Item Library Mode check box. Select OK to close the Enterprise Preferences window. Create SIM Groups in a Service Item Library

Orders module charge posting also looks at SIM Groups which are set up in File Maintenance in the Service Item Libraries. You must first define a Service Item library, and add service items to the library before you can create a SIM group. Select File Maintenance > Libraries > Service Items. Right-click the Service Item library for which you want to create a SIM Group. The Service Items List window opens. Select SIM Groups from the list. Select the open menu button, and then select New.The SIM Group Maintenance window opens. Define the SIM Group ID and Description. SIM Group. This is a numeric or alphabetic ID that you use to identify this SIM Group. Description. The description you choose for this SIM Group. Service Item #. This is the list of service items contained in this group. Select in the Service Item #. Select the SIM ID to have the focus on that parameter. To be able to automatically submit service item charges, select the Automatically Assign Benefits practice preferences in File Maintenance > Chart. Select File Maintenance > System > EHR > Practices. Select your practice. Select the Preferences button at the bottom of the window. Select the Chart category. Select Automatically Assign Benefits. To save your selection, select OK. Set Up Charge Submission Defaults

For your practice to post charges for performing tests, you must define the charge for the tests using the SIM code or SIM group code for the test. You must also set up when to post the charges for tests from each type of performing entity that you use, including any in-house testing. You must set this value only if you want to post charges for tests that are ordered. If no value is specified, "No Billing" is assumed. CAUTION: If your practice places orders through template and manages charges from template, do not use the charge posting in the Orders module as it can result in duplicate charges. In File Maintenance, select System > Practices. From the Practices List, double select the required practice.The Modify Practice Information window opens. Using Advanced Service Item Library Mode

The Advanced Service Item Library Mode feature provides the ability to set pricing for tests and services based on how various payers divide the country into geographical regions. If you need to set up test pricing for your practice that is based on regions, the Advanced Service Item Library Mode is the way to accomplish this. You can set prices by configuring locations into payer centric groupings. As an example, Medicare may have different regional groupings than Aetna, and pricing is determined accordingly. In addition, the concept of SIM Pricing Templates was introduced to support the management of prices using parent/child relationships between libraries.If you do not need to set up payment based on pricing regions, do not use this parameter. Set Up Enterprise Preferences for Payment Libraries

To open the Enterprise Preferences window, do one of the following: From NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Admin > > Preferences > Enterprise. From File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Enterprises, and from the list, choose an enterprise and then select Preferences. From Preference List, select Libraries.
