Set Up Enterprise Preferences for Payment Libraries
- To open the Enterprise Preferences window, do one of the following:
- From NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Admin > > Preferences > Enterprise.
- From File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Enterprises, and from the list, choose an enterprise and then select Preferences.
- From Preference List, select Libraries.
- To turn on all features that allow users to set prices by configuring locations into payer-centric groupings, select Enable Advanced Service Item Library Mode.
Note: You cannot turn off this feature after you have turned it on.
- In Default Pricing Region Library for Self Pay, select the appropriate SIM pricing regions library that defines the pricing for self-pay encounters.
- In Default Pricing Region Library, select the appropriate SIM pricing regions library that defines the pricing for payers in this enterprise.

- In User Defined Price Description 1 and User Defined Price Description 2, enter pricing labels to use for customized facility and non-facility labels throughout the system.
Each name creates two column labels, facility and non-facility, in the Service Item and SIM Pricing Template libraries. The pricing labels that you enter are displayed in the following areas.
The Charge Posting window in NextGen® Enterprise PM.
In the User-defined claims override price field list in File Maintenance > Master Files > Practice > Other.
In the SIM Pricing Template window in File Maintenance > Libraries > Sim Pricing Template > SIM Pricing Template List.
In the Service Item Library Maintenance window in File Maintenance > Libraries > Sim Pricing Template > Service Items List.
- To set the effective location as mandatory for a pricing region when a user enters a charge or procedure, select Require Effective Location in Pricing Region.
If you do not select this option and no effective location exists, then the service item library selected in the libraries practice preferences is used by default when a user enters a procedure.
- To search for the practice default SIM library and continue with the charge entry process when no active SIM is found in an initial search of the derived library, select Use Default Library If SIM Not Found In Derived.
- In Charge Entry Message, enter a message to display when a SIM is not found in the derived Service Items library.
The message appears in NextGen® Enterprise PM during charge entry, in NextGen® Enterprise EHR in the Procedures module, in NextGen® Enterprise EHR templates that use a procedure trigger, and in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates that use a NextGen® Enterprise EHR procedure trigger.Note: The message does not appear in the NextGen® Enterprise Orders module.
