Searching for Tests Using the NextGen Compendium

You can search the NextGen compendium only for tests that have been mapped to the selected vendor compendium. By limiting searches to mapped tests, practices can eliminate errors that occur when an order without an associated vendor test code is sent across an interface. You can search for a test by the test description or test code. You can enter either the test description or user description in the Test Description field. Parent topic: Select Tests Panel

You can select tests using the NextGen compendium an entity-specific list of tests, or a practice- or provider-defined list of favorite tests. You cannot combine your selections from different lists (such as one from the Labcorp list and one from the NextGen compendium list). If you try to mix more than one compendium, a message appears, stating that you cannot switch to another compendium unless you delete all tests from the current compendium You can perform the following actions from the Select Tests panel of the Select Tests tab. Select several tests at the same time. Select a Diagnosis in the top section. Select the check box for each desired test. Select one of the Save options to complete the order. You can view or select the Performing Entity on the top menu bar. If your practice preferences or insurance carve-outs are set up, the performing entity can be selected automatically. Order NextGen Test Compendium Master File

The Order NextGen Test Compendium includes a list of all lab and radiology tests defined by NextGen. Before setting up NextGen Compendium, your system administrator must run the Order Management Console. The Order Management Console maps NextGen compendium codes to individual testing entity tables (such as Labcorp) that a practice uses to process tests. If your practice uses other compendiums, you must perform this process manually. By mapping the NextGen Compendium codes to Order Test codes (vendor compendiums), NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables users to order based on the NextGen compendium codes; and, therefore, ensuring the appropriate mapped vendor code is sent across the interface. This is particularly important when ordering from a template, since the templates are created using NextGen compendium codes. The NextGen test codes should all begin with "NG". If the NextGen test code happens to be same as the test code from another vendor and if the vendor code is part of a favorite list, then you see this favorite as part of the NextGen favorites.
