After you enable ePrescribing and secure communications, you must download retail and mail-order pharmacies that are enrolled with the Surescripts network. All of the pharmacies you download are added to your Pharmacies master file. These pharmacies are available to providers enrolled with Surescripts to send prescriptions electronically in NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
You can search for pharmacies to download using the following search types:
- Use single or multiple criteria: You select how many pharmacies to download.
- Search according to distance from a ZIP code: Downloads all search results.
- To electronically communicate with a pharmacy using the ePrescribing feature, the pharmacy must be a certified member of the Surescripts network and added to your list of pharmacies.
- Surescripts updates pharmacy information on a regular, usually daily, basis.
- NextGen Healthcare recommends that you perform a pharmacy download at least once a month to add new pharmacies and update existing pharmacies in the Pharmacies master file.
