Map a Pharmacy to an ePrescribing Pharmacy

Some automatic pharmacy mapping occurs as part of the pharmacy download process to create a link between the pharmacy listed in the master file and the ePrescribing pharmacy. By default, the system checks the pharmacy NCPD ID number and fax number. If there is a downloaded Surescripts pharmacy that could not be matched with a pharmacy in the Pharmacies master file, you must manually map the pharmacy. The method allows you to map only one pharmacy at a time.
  1. In File Maintenance, open the Pharmacies master file.
The Pharmacies List window opens. The Mapped column displays a check mark for each mapped pharmacy.
  2. Open a pharmacy.
The Modify Pharmacy Information window opens.
  3. Select the ePrescribing tab, and then select Manage Mapping.
The Pharmacy Mapper window displays the current pharmacy information, the ePrescribing pharmacy it is mapped to, and a list of downloaded Surescripts pharmacies.

The ePrescribing Pharmacies list is grouped into the following three categories:
    • The Suggested Mappings list displays possible matches based on fax number.
    • The Available Mappings list displays all downloaded ePrescribing pharmacies that are unmapped.
    • The Already Mapped list displays all pharmacies that are mapped.
    • The Expired Pharmacies list displays all expired pharmacies. This category is for reference only, and the pharmacies cannot be mapped for ePrescribing.
  4. If the list does not display a good match, you can select Download Pharmacies to search for more pharmacies.
The Download Pharmacies to NextGen window opens so that you can conduct the same kind of search involved in the pharmacy download process.
  5. To map the current pharmacy, select an ePrescribing pharmacy from the ePrescribing Pharmacies list, and then select Map.

  6. If the selected pharmacy already has a mapped pharmacy associated with it, the ePrescribing Pharmacies list is disabled. If you want to change mapping, you must first remove the current mapping. To remove mapping, select Unmap.
