Assign CPT4 Codes

CPT®4 codes are assigned using File Maintenance. Once assigned, they are then linked to the test and are used when a NextGen® Medical Necessity Check is requested. From File Maintenance > Master Files > EHR, select CPT4 Codes. Select Description. Enter a text description of the test and the search starts automatically. Select a test, and select OK. If the test does not have an assigned CPT®4 Code, enter the CPT®4 code for the selected test, and a Description. Enter the Type of Service and the Reimbursement code. Select OK to save the new value. Link a CPT4 Code to a Specific Test

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > Order Tests. The Order Tests List window opens. Double-click to select a specific test. The Modify Order Test Information window opens. Select the folder next to CPT4 Codes. The CPT4 Code Search window opens. Select the Description heading, and enter a description of the test in the Available field. Select the corresponding test and select the right arrow to link the CPT4 code to the test. To save this CPT4 code with this test, select OK . The CPT4 Code Search window closes. The added CPT4 codes appear in the Modify Order Test Information window. Select OK to exit the Modify Order Test Information window. Parent topic: Assign CPT4 Codes

Copy Order Tests in File Maintenance

You can copy an existing test and add it to the list of tests for another test entity. To copy an order test, select Master Files > System > Order Tests. Select to focus the search on Order Test Key and enter the name of an existing test. Select to highlight the desired test. Right-click and select Copy. The Copy Master File window opens. Select the drop-down arrow on the Please Select a System field. Select to select a testing entity. Select in the Please enter the Lab Key field and enter a test order name. Add or Modify a Test Order

Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Order Tests.Do one of the following: To add a new item, select open menu , and then select New. To modify an item, double-click the item to open it. Alternately, you can select the item in the list, select open menu , and then select Open. The Modify Order Test Information window displays the Test Details tab. Enter the order test details for each of the listed categories. For those categories that have a folder icon, select the folder and use the resulting window to select items from a list. Select the Specimen Handling tab. Enter the specimen handling information for each individual test order defined. Select the Options tab. Under Update Workflow Task Items, select the users to notify of the test results. These can include the ordering provider, the user who created the order, and an additional user.Selecting the users to notify on this window is backward compatible only. Select the ordering provider and order creator in Preferences.
