NextGen® Enterprise EHR version 8 supports the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) SCRIPT 2017071 standard. As part of the upgrade production process, Surescripts® Provider Identifier information is migrated to a new Surescript directory supporting the NCPDP SCRIPT 2017071 standard.
Before upgrading, prescribers must complete the following:
- All eRx request which include Refill and RxChange should be responded to before the production upgrade to8 begins. Accessing any Refill or RxChange requests after the upgrade will result in an error and responses will not be allowed to be sent electronically. A phone call to the pharmacy may be needed for any missed requests.
- Refill Request can be managed in the Clinical Inbox and Medication module (includes Unmatched and Manage Refills).
- RxChange Request can be managed in Clinical Inbox.
Note: This action does not have to be performed when installing 8 into test environments however is necessary before applying the release to the practice’s production environment.
